Love the new home for Gloucester Library - may it be a place of joy and delight for years to come! Nice nature/science writing collection too…

I did not want to see the news tonight that Jane Goodall has died. But what a life. What a human. What an impact she had on our understanding of our fellow Earthlings and their right to life. We are so much poorer for having lost her.

When your fiancé is reading a biography of Francis Crick, who was married to your great aunt Odile, and points out this bit and says “Look, your accident gene runs in the family”

I was utterly charmed by @BSBICountries’ quest to find a medley of Britain’s endemic species. Also, YES to Pokémon references in nature writing

The #WildBoar wallow that played a starring role in my book GROUNDBREAKERS has dried up again, as in 2022; though muddy patches remain, thanks to the excavating actions of the boar. Rain, when it returns, will pool in the wallow - rather than running off baked-dry ground.

Rewilding, beavers, wild boar & meter long parasitic worms! Oh & the tendency of media to focus on drama rather than slow journey towards a more involved positive relationship with our landscapes (mea culpa ☺️) What a great talk @sophiepavs @hannahrudman @PCairnsPhoto @CSLyons

Two brilliant new reads on coexistence with creatures great & small - Adam Weymouth on wolves, & @JulianHoffman on fellow humans, bears, wrens, swallows & beyond in Greece ❤️

There’s no clearer evidence to me how normalised obesogenic foods and plastic packaging has become in our society than the individual cake slices in plastic boxes that my local @Morrisons shoves in customers’ faces as they walk in

I’ve always heard that damsons are generally too sour to eat as they are - but I’ve found a tree near me whose fruit is green-fleshed yet divine (like miniature Victoria plums). Are my tastebuds off or have I found a Magical Damson Tree?

On 2 Sept at 7pm, I'll be holding an online writer's salon with Emma Geen (author of one of my all-time favourite sci-fis) on the deeply fascinating question of how to write the worlds of other animals. Book a ticket and join us! https://t.co/Aru8atU3r3

Sorry but this photo of my parents’ rescue dog from Sri Lanka being walked in the rain kills me

How is it that the richest man on earth can share this kind of openly white supremacist and misogynistic trash and it be met with a shrug by the entire US elite?

Thank you Dave 🤩
Just finished @CSLyons #groundbreakers. The prose is vivid and immersive, making it easy to forget you're not there with her, debating over who is going into Boartropolis first and by how far. https://t.co/vzaCb10Ymu

A highly readable account not only about the life-generating powers of beavers, but also the hard graft of campaigning often required by passionate individuals and fleet-footed small NGOs to make positive change happen. 2/2

Loved @argatyredkites’ new book on his ultimately triumphant battle to save #beavers from being shot & bring them to his land in Scotland. 1/2

Raced through this book (coming soon from Canongate) - had no idea of the issue of illegal gold miners in South Africa! Compelling storytelling throughout.
