Big thanks to our amazing Hyde, Woodley & Romily towpath volunteers who have cleared 0.5km of floating pennywort from the Peak Forest Canal. They used canoes to remove large & heavy floating mats of the invasive weed north of Bankfield Road in Woodley to help us #KeepCanalsAlive

The Grade 1 listed Lune Aqueduct is an impressive 202 m long, carrying the Lancaster Canal 16 m above the River Lune since 1797. Designed by John Rennie, and constructed by Alexander Stevens, it’s one of the most impressive landmarks on our waterways. Have you visited before?

We spend tens of millions of pounds repairing canals, breaches and responding to emergencies, alongside fixing routine wear and tear. This includes large-scale works, like replacing lock gates and repairing brickwork. As a charity, we continue to keep canals alive for everyone.
