Lessons from EU: 1) #Peatland conservation involves the conservation of its hydrology. Even small drops in water levels affects peat accumulation. 2) To conserve a peatland, its entire ‘hydrological unit’ must be conserved. 3) If peatlands must be used, they should be used wet!

Britain's peatlands are on the frontline against climate change - but they need protecting. That's why we're calling on @DefraGovUK to extend the partial ban on burning to shallow peatlands, allowing them to be restored to their healthier, deeper state. https://t.co/zbQOkkD73N

Many people asking us about #bumblebees at the moment - why they’re seeing them on the ground - so here’s a quick thread to explain what they’re up to. Please #retweet as every #queen that survives means a new colony that gets to exist & produce new queen #bees for next year! 1/8

Interesting study on peatland rivers, highlighting the need for landscape-level rewetting to meet our water quality standards in the midlands region. Rewetting is the answer to a lot of our environmental problems. #NatureRestoration @swanireland
