A study by @MattBetts11 and co-authors shows declines in carbon and biodiversity are a signature of forest degradation.🌲Replacing old, naturally regenerated forests with young plantations and then regularly harvesting trees in NB is not good for the birds or for carbon levels!.
Forest harvest in New Brunswick is resulting in large carbon losses. But storing carbon can also help maintain habitat for declining bird populations. Please help us get the word out about this paper that is being largely ignored by the media:
