October #siteofthemonth is hosted by @Sheepdrove Organic Farm, a mixed, Soil Association certified family-run farm on the rolling chalk and grass of the Berkshire Downs and which pioneers sustainable, regenerative and organic farming and biodiversity conservation.

September #siteofthemonth is hosted by the Euston Estate, Thetford where commercial farming and conservation techniques produce 10,500 acres of mixed arable plus free-range pig and poultry products. On flat, well-draining grassland, it's one of the driest of the COSMOS-UK sites.

August #siteofthemonth is hosted by @MoretonColWGG, a specialist land-based college offering courses in agriculture, countryside, conservation and wildlife. The COSMOS-UK site is located on a flat area of improved grassland on a mineral soil within a 650 acre Warwickshire estate.

July #siteofthemonth is Moor House, 465m above sea level on mineral loamy soil supporting cotton grass and heather. Located in the Moor House Upper Teesdale National Nature Reserve, it is managed by @NaturalEngland, the government’s adviser for the natural environment in England.

Enjoyed visiting @COSMOS_UKCEH Chimney Meadows site as a part of LSDA-CoP (@HydroJules @NCEOscience). Learnt a lot about CRNS SM and Met instruments.

June #siteofthemonth is Sourhope, 350m up in The Cheviots on an area of grassland & mineral soil in the headwaters of Beaumont Water. Sourhope’s remote location means it uses satellite-based connectivity (@Visat and @GCSatellite) to enable near real-time environmental monitoring

Comparison of Met Office regional model soil moisture with COSMOS-UK field-scale in situ observations - new scientific paper using COSMOS-UK data

Set in the heart of England, E of Birmingham, S of Nottingham and W of Peterborough, Stoughton is our May #COSMOS-UK Site of the Month. On an arable farm managed by Farmcare, the site is flat with loam to clayey loam soils.

This latest dataset includes updated COSMOS VWC values based on updates to the gamma correction parameter to account for changes in the solar cycle.

This contains daily and sub-daily hydrometeorological and soil moisture observations from the COSMOS-UK network from 2013 to 2023 - a full 10-year dataset for some of our sites!
