Today I introduced a bill to require the Mayor to issue a motor vehicle ID tag with the legend "End Gun Violence." The license plate serves to raise awareness about gun violence, encourage action against it and fund services to support victims of crime.

While we're at it, how about we also issue a "Share the Road" license plate, to remind motorists to drive carefully around cyclists, who have to ride in the roadway since there aren't any bike lanes??

Cars kill as many people as guns do, and you are voting against legislation that makes our streets safer for everyone? Why? How can you bring up one form of violence, while willfully ignoring another?

as someone who had been following and supporting you up til now, I'm done. You had a chance to save lives and show real leadership today but you voted for a license plate slogan and then snuck out the back. Pathetic.

Councilmember I hope you realize from the response you are getting to this that Ward 4 doesn't find this to be an adequate response to gun violence. I don't even think we can consider this to be a serious bill. On Feb 16 I sent you 17 recommendations to address these issues.
