“For want of a nail, the horseshoe was lost. For want of the horseshoe, the steed was lost. For want of a steed, the message wasn’t delivered. For want of an undelivered message, the war was lost.” -Japanese Proverb
Remember when “travel” ball used to be the best of the best? And remember when it was not pay to play you paid to get good instruction and insight. Now it’s “pay X amount and coach has to play everyone even if they don’t work hard cause mom and dad want Johnny in the game.”
If you want to play at the next level be the best at playing catch. Big leaguers never ever overthrow their catch partner. Watch how they go about pre game catch, they don’t miss. It’s not hard it just take focus and taking pride in doing it. Can’t play catch can’t play ball.
Pro tip. Base runners at the HS and college level when you get to 1B you don’t toss your gear at the 1B coach. You take your gear off and you hand it to him, say thank you, get your sign get your lead. If your 1B coach has to pick up your stuff off the ground just retire.
High school ball players. Don't be the kid who big leagues a D2 or D3 school because you or your family feels you are D1. Know what you are be open to the truth and go where you're celebrated and not tolerated.
My coach in college taught us that “chirping is eyewash” and if you want to be a pro you need to act like one. This was at D3. Our bench didn’t talk but we cleaned our shoes big leagued it and when they chirped we just kept scoring. 🤷🏾♂️ rather do that than talk crap it’s more fun
Really trying to understand this. MLB is not playing. The Cape, NECBL, and the PGCBL which are the top 3 collegiate leagues in the NATION are not playing yet we got travel organizations and tournaments fighting tooth and nail to play... If the best of the best aren’t playing
HS players here a list of questions you should ask a college coach on a visit or in a recruiting conversation. The good coaches will welcome these questions because they’ll tell you more about the program. Never be afraid to ask! It’s your career/development on the line.
Players when you off to college summer ball here’s some tips: a 🧵 on deck…1. Enjoy it. Summer ball is fun and meant to be. The weather is good and all you need to do is lift maybe take a summer class maybe work and play baseball.
HS and college guys should take notes on this. You play catch to get better not to warm up. Especially at the HS levels too many players just throw and don't take this into account.
PITCHERS: every single time you throw the ball, you are working on your pitching. Using your delivery while playing catch (called a flat- ground) helps you get a feel for what your body is doing, and how your arm works with it along the way.

You missed the whole point. It’s not about dogging 6am lifting it’s about lying to yourself thinking you’re doing more than everyone else when you’re not.
I was a D3 college arm. It blows my mind how people disrespect D3 collegiate athletics. That whole D1 or bust mentality is not it and will run you out of a lot of opportunities.
Please stop disrespecting NCAA Division III athletics. If a kid wants to announce their decision on social media or even a offer...they should do so. They've earned it. Just like D1 and D2 athletes. Want to know why there are SA's that will not return phone calls & texts from D3
Players getting that bread so be it but the assistants are still only able to maybe afford a 1/4 tank of gas and can’t eat and can barely keep the phone on (if you have your bills in your name.) College baseball needs to get right for real. Truth is coming out.
Here’s how the college baseball landscape will continue to look like 10-12 teams will out spend everyone and win the title each year.
Unless your school is willing to put up 4-5 million you have zero shot
Little Johnny doesn’t need to have travel baseball tournaments right now so he can hit grounders to short and then have dad put it in game changer as a hit. That’s not it. People are dying. Doctors and nurses are working like dogs and by pushing to play right now is disrespectful
It’s becoming easier and easier to tell the legit travel programs from the bad ones now. You still have your snake oil salesman who hide it. You want to figure out who’s legit? Watch the coaches hit fungos and throw bp and it’ll tell you everything you need to know.
Hitters. Respect you bp arm. If you don’t say thank you verbally to your bp thrower thats JV. My college coaches when I worked on staff after playing would call you out in front of everyone if you didn’t say thank you to the guy throwing bp. Watch pro ball bp and you’ll get it.
Grateful for
@MLB
in selecting me to participate in the 2023 MLB Diversity Pipeline Scout & Coaching Development Program. Thank you

The Underground Railroad had a lesser known route that fled to Mexico.
Mexico refused to return any refugees that fled from slavery because their Constitution stated "every individual who is considered as a slave at a foreign country shall be freed and protected under the law...
The hitters in the HR derby are cool and all but I’m more intrigued with how the BP pitchers do their work tonight. Mind blowing how people think throwing bp is just whatever if it was so not a big deal then everyone would be able to do it and not the one guy on your staff lol.
HS players what you must understand is with the pandemic and guys coming back because they have eligibility you really need to realize where you truly fit as a player. College baseball is going to be more competitive in years past. Go where you’re celebrated not tolerated.
Guys like Kevin Kiermaier are proof that you don’t need to go to that “big name school” to get paid to play baseball. Go where your wanted kids and then listen to the people who truly want to be in your corner.
Man I’m gonna be 28 Tuesday. Last few months gone through hell and was not right mentally. I’ll be open and honest suicide was a thought, but God had other plans for me. So thankful for what He’s done with me. Total 180. We on all year. Each day is a blessing y’all carry on.
To them. Bottom line is this. Be ready when the game is back but in the meantime do your job and help solve the issue which is making sure the people are you are healthy. Last I checked. You can’t social distance on a ball field. I rest my case.

Recruiting tip. No matter the level of college athletics if you have interest in schools on your list it never hurts to go see those schools in action to see if you match up at the level those colleges compete at. The eyes never lie. Real recognize real.
In summer ball there's a mindset that you're entitled to at bats and innings... Players what are you doing to earn time? Remember summer coaches are trying to prove they can win also. Too much of the "I need playing time" and not enough of the I need to earn and get better.
Honored to be named Pitching Coach at Rust College. Thank you for

for giving me that quality advice. Lets roll 💯
If you really want to see good college baseball go on ESPN+ and watch Northwoods League games. Thank me later that league starts this week and goes into mid-August.
Freshman year before we left for winter break, I asked a junior teammate what he’d be doing for the holidays?
“Two-a-days til I get back. Starters do two-a-days.”
So two-a-days was what I did too. Best advice I could’ve gotten as a freshman.
A ton of people say “just because you played pro ball doesn’t mean you know the game or you can coach.” There’s truth to that… but there’s also a lot of people saying that stuff but can’t hit a fungo or can’t throw bp pitches in the same spot. Lets practice what we preach first.
We got your back young king. Don’t let them discourage you. They’re mad you’re better than them at “their game.” Stay focused your brothers and sisters are with you my boy.
"When I hear about guys sleeping in their office I wonder what they hell they're doing there. Cause the game ain't that hard.
The work will always be there, your kids won't.
I tell my coaches, if you miss a recital or little league game... I'll fire you."
- Bruce Arians
In the coaching world and a lot of times in life people get caught up in who’s getting this job that job and so concerned with what others are doing we forget about our own personal purpose. Life plays out when you just worry about you and stay in your lane.

A lot of big time steps being made in this program right now. Excited to be apart of it. Not doing this by myself though. The quality coaches in this organization are just as important. It will take the whole village to get these players to where they need to be. Time to go. 🤝
Let’s not act surprised here, people. With debates, you’re not suppose to give a damn about what ppl may feel or how they may react at the expense of what you believe to be true. You say what you mean, mean WTH you say, and live with whatever!. That’s it! Deal with it!
What are college programs looking for in their recruits? Well if these 5 Traits are good enough for Tim Corbin and Vanderbilt I would say this is a good place to start.
This isn’t going to fix the issue of pitchers in high school getting hurt. The real issue is nobody trains properly in the off season to prepare the arm throw because they start practice 3 weeks before game one... that’s the problem.
The MIAA is requiring coaches to use this pitch count tracking sheet for this spring. Any online platforms are optional.
It is available on the baseball page of the Miaa website and we will have hard copies available this weekend ⚾️

Over the past few weeks I've heard stories about coaches getting let go because players complaining and saying they're too hard on them. It's a shame. Because somebody cares so they're gonna hold you accountable? Give me a break man come on!
6. Last one don’t be that guy who bangs it. Stay the whole summer unless you’re hurt.. Pros play 162 games a year. If you wanna be a pro 50-60 summer games is nothing compared to 162. Take advantage of your opportunity there’s guys who wish they were signing to play. Ball out
4. Don’t big league little kids. Sign stuff give them a ball and a broken bat if they ask. You never know if you do right by the kids you’re winning a fan not only for the summer but for life. Be about the kids!
HS athletes peep this 🧵 When you hear older people who in your life say “let kids be kids,” be very careful. Take that with a grain of salt. Here is why:
1. You’re at an age where life comes quickly. It’s not a game and if someone said that to you well they lied.
A coach delivered an angry, profanity-laced speech to members of the
#NorthAttleboroMA
High School’s varsity baseball squad last spring in what one parent is complaining was an abuse of the players.
We had 3 of our Beacons play in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Before signing as a NDFA with the Blue Jays, Amalfi (Firebirds) pitched 17 Innings with 19 K’s.
Metzdorf (Firebirds) batted .419 in 8 games, with 13 hits & 7 RBIs.
Dexter (Gatemen) went 2.1 innings, 2 K’s & 0 runs.
A lot of people debate about how coaches shouldn’t call the game but those same all-knowing people forget that their jobs aren’t on the line every year to win so keep that in mind before putting your two cents in. If it’s not your program your opinion doesn’t really matter.

Also pre game I/O is a bunch of eyewash but that’s just me. High school baseball needs to allow for home and away BP I’ve been saying it for years you take your “I/O” in BP
4 year schools I am writing a report on all of our players who are sophomores/3rd years who are looking for homes next fall. If you wish to inquire DM me with your cell number and emails. Thank you

The Chicago Cubs pitcher is defining himself beyond baseball. Marcus Stroman talks about his upcoming label, Le Carénage, and his relationship with wine.
2. Act like a pro. There will be MLB scouts in the stands throughout the summer. Act like a big leaguer. Clean your shoes look good on the field and get a haircut and keep your appearance lined up. Look like you wanna play pro ball.
5. Your manager and your coaches are most likely young college coaches trying to move up. They aren’t there to “coach” but to be more or less and advisor and let you do you. Play your best use them as resources and do your thing. Respect your manager.
Was working an event today and a travel program told a coach to look up their roster because the head coach didn't have a printout. If you want your guys getting looks HAVE HARD COPIES OF YOUR ROSTER!!! That's an absolute embarrassment! Come on man!
Coaches. Normalize having the hitters say thank you to the guy throwing bp. It’s a rare tool that few have. When your guys go pro and they don’t say that someone will jump down their necks for it. Especially when you’re expecting the same guy to do it daily. 💯🤙🏾
