On Monday we rallied against Trump’s rescinding of Temporary Protected Status. Now NYC is taking action, suing to reinstate #TPS for Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua and protect vulnerable, hardworking New Yorkers seeking safety in the US.

Community members from Nepal and Haiti shared how #TPS has given them a chance to live, work, and build families in the US free of dictatorship, famine, and war. They are most affected by current immigration policies, which is why we will continue to stand with them always.

@nycpa @JumaaneWilliams reminded us that threats against immigrants are threats against all of us. Although many people, even many immigrants, didn’t think things would get as bad as they are now, we can still keep each other safe by actively resisting authoritarian policies.

Yesterday we stood with our immigrant neighbors, particularly #TPS holders, at Queens Borough Hall. @QnsBPRichards stressed that crackdowns on our communities have nothing to do with safety, but with dismantling the cultural diversity & coexistence that exist only in Queens.

Our thoughts are with those k*lled in yesterday's shoot*ng in Midtown Manhattan. We express our deepest condolences to their loved ones, including the family of police office Didarul Islam. Needless to say, we condemn such heinous acts of violence, regardless of the motivation.

If conditions in ICE facilities are as bad as detainees and visitors say they are, our elected leaders and the broader public certainly have a right to know. This is true here in NYC, in Florida, and in ICE detention centers around the country.
