Boarding now! Against All odds after being held up with T-storms, we ran to our plane late after it closed the door and was pulling away. However, we waved frantically to the plane from the window and got the pilot’s attention and they came back!!!

It’s a rainy day here in Buitrago, but we were still able to take a stroll through town. Lots of medieval history and beautiful architecture here. Our students also met a group of local students in town and had a chance to practice their Spanish speaking skills.

We visited the Vinh Moc tunnels, where an entire village created an elaborate tunnel system to protect themselves from US bombs. We even had the special privilege of being escorted by a villager that was born in the tunnel.

We went for a great hike through the rainforest to see monkeys and a beautiful waterfall! We were able to spot mountain monkeys a couple of times on our hike!

We just visited the Cave of Enebralejos where our students saw examples of prehistory that they learned about in class this year. We have been able to make so many connections to their learning in both history and Spanish class during this trip!

We ended our day yesterday in a lagoon with lots of icebergs and at a beach known as “diamond beach” because as the ice flows into the ocean from the lagoon, it is brought back ashore by the waves. As the icebergs erode, the sand polishes them into diamonds.
