Black, indigenous, communities of color and low-income communities are the frontlines of the climate crisis. They have the most to lose and the fewest resources to evacuate and recover when disaster strikes. Climate justice is vital to keep our communities safe.
Warmer Gulf waters made Milton and Helene’s rainfall and winds more intense. Climate change helped them strengthen rapidly and, in the case of Helene, strike deep in Appalachia. Climate justice is how we will keep our communities safe and deliver a hopeful tomorrow.
