Yesterday, President Biden signed a proclamation establishing the Frances Perkins National Monument in Newcastle, Maine, to honor the legacy of America’s first woman Cabinet Secretary and the longest-serving Secretary of Labor.

Today, President Biden established the Carlisle Federal Indian Boarding School National Monument. This new monument will tell the story of the oppression endured by thousands of Native children and commemorate the resilience of Tribes and Indigenous communities.

By identifying next steps & best practices for federal agencies to support community-driven relocation, we can bridge the gap between at-risk Tribes & communities seeking assistance and the resources available across the federal government to support them for generations to come.
