Today, and in these days, I weep for the people of Gaza as they face not just a continuation of their immense suffering but an escalation in their hardship and desperation. Our Lady of Gaza, pray for us. St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, pray for us. https://t.co/zexWgZjelO

In #Zimbabwe, many children stopped going to school as families struggled with the worst drought in nearly 40 years. Caritas Zimbabwe works with schools in Binga, Gokwe and Makoni to deliver daily meals so children can keep learning. https://t.co/kAwEg0c9m5

Our Director @CDenchN21 speaking at the #ActNowChangeForever mass lobby. This is unique opportunity to join the Church’s global debt campaign and make our call for the cancellation of the debts of countries hit hardest by the climate crisis, loud and clear.

Very excited to be with so many others to have these conversations. Just waiting for my MP now - @KateOsamor
Today, thousands of us are in Westminster to have powerful conversations with our MPs. This is a unique opportunity for Catholics to ask their MPs to urgently take action to tackle the entwined crises of unjust debt and climate change. #CancelTheDebt #ActNowChangeForever

I read this while at the the climate coalition lobby with @CAFOD and a whole load of others! Great to see
Pope Leo XIV, celebrating a Mass "For the Care of Creation" in the gardens of Castel Gandolfo, said during his homily: "we have to pray for the conversion of so many people, inside and outside the Church, who still do not recognize the urgency of caring for the common home."

Is great news. Let’s remember that Leo XIII was the father of modern Catholic social Teaching with his document Rerum Novarum in 1891. In it he talked about the rights of workers, fair pay and working conditions in the heat of the Industrial Revolution.
Christine Allen spoke live to BBC News from St Peter’s Square, shortly after the newly elected Pope Leo XIV appeared on the balcony.

In celebrating the life of Pope Francis, we also recognise that he left us with unfinished business. Speaking to CNN, our Director Christine Allen reminds us all in this Jubilee year to continue that hope, follow his example and finish what he started: promoting peace,

There many powerful moments in the funeral of Pope Francis, but for me the most poignant was the simplicity of the wooden coffin amidst the grandeur. A true witness to the gospel.

During his homily, the cardinal paid tribute to the major themes of Francis' papacy, including concern for migrants, the environment, interreligious dialogue, his outreach to society's most forgotten and the pope's command to "build bridges, not walls."

A simplified papal funeral will make a fitting farewell for a pontiff who just three days after his surprise election expressed his desire for "a church that is poor and for the poor."

Thanks to Bishop John Arnold for expressing his support of our and the @decappeal's Myanmar Earthquake Appeal. He looked back on his past experiences in the country and spoke more about the current situation. The Appeal. ⤵️ https://t.co/OlwBPwIYQI
