Almost more heartbreaking, is when I have mentioned the insurance issue & need for authorization, we sometimes have struggling parents with very sick children ask ‘how much is the test? I can pay.’ Their disappointment when we say ‘thousands’. @thosewecarry

As a #physician (clinical geneticist 🧬), I would love to practice without concern for what insurance type my patient has. At present, a patient’s insurance often dictates what tests we can order from outside labs and therefore, their care. The system is horrible. #medtwitter

The #collegeadmissionsscandal is upsetting. Moving to NYC for residency training gave me an up close & personal view of the inequities and really different worlds that exist for the rich and the poor. There are such huge disparities here in the city. Everything is magnified.
