For those who don’t live in the distant past the Countryside March brought 250k to London on 1 March 1998 to protest against a hunting ban. 27 years later @GeorgeMonbiot thinks what might have been on a placard then is relevant to his Marxist views on land ownership now 3/ENDS.

@GeorgeMonbiot is wrong whilst @CAupdates is arguing a sensible and progressive way forward for the countryside and everyone who loves it. That is why he lies, and will presumably carry on doing so whilst @guardian continues to give him a platform 4/ENDS.

Brilliant thread. The deepest irony is that is supposed ‘progressives’ like @GeorgeMonbiot who have enabled this greedy land grab.
Have spoken to about 200 Cumbrians in the last week about the rewilding projects for Cumbria . Have never know people here so unified on agreement that something that might have been good has become a scam….
