The Austin ISD board of trustees hired Anthony Mays to be the interim superintendent in June following the departure of Stephanie Elizalde. He plans to begin his new role with Alief ISD in January.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Harold Cook. He was one of a kind. His intellect, humor and passion for politics and public policy was true. He was a blessing for all of us lucky to have know him throughout our years in the Capitol. RIP El Jefe.
