Fun note on Bryce Eldridge: His average EV of 95.6 mph was 2nd to only Oneil Cruz (95.9 mph) while his hard hit % of 68.8% was the best mark in baseball. *min. 30 plate appearances. Small sample, but he already saw success in his stint despite poor production numbers overall.

If the #SFGiants are set on trading for Donovan, might as well throw in an extra prospect or two to bring over Nootbar as well.

Giants continue to be mentioned in the Freddy Peralta sweepstakes.
Brewers continue to field offers on ace pitcher Freddy Peralta, a free agent after 2026. Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Giants and Braves among many, many interested teams. Peralta $8M salary means anyone can afford, including Brewers, but extension tougher for small markets.

Casey Schmitt was notably affected by the nagging hand injury throughout the second half. In 112 plate appearances prior to injury he held a 50% Hard Hit rate. That number fell to 41.1% through his final 236 plate appearances. #SFGiants
Bryce Eldridge and Casey Schmitt both had wrist surgery in the offseason but both said they’ll be 100 percent by the start of camp. Eldridge played through it all year, Schmitt got hurt in June.

I’m a bit surprised the #SFGiants are reportedly so aggressive in the 2B market when a third outfielder is arguably the bigger need. According to @fangraphs, they’re projected to get the 25th most value out of RF this season at just 1.4 fWAR.

The #SFGiants should’ve pounced on a 2B deal prior to Bichette’s signing. The market is going be significantly more competitive now.
After signing Bo Bichette, the Mets are still considering trade targets 2B Ketel Marte, 2B Brendan Donovan, and 2B Nico Hoerner.

I’m usually pretty optimistic but it’s hard not to feel this way. ⬇️
The offseason is long and I wait until the end to draw concrete conclusions. With each passing day, it feels less and less likely that they will make another move. The same issues that plagued them at the end of last year are still present today. That's not good.

So...did the Cubs want more interest from around the league on Hoerner? The Cards want more interest on Donovan? Or did the Giants want to put pressure on both teams to get a deal done? Three days later and nothing...
The San Francisco Giants are aggressively pursuing a second baseman and have been engaged with Chicago on Nico Hoerner and St. Louis on Brendan Donovan, sources tell ESPN. An infield of Matt Chapman, Willy Adames, Donovan or Hoerner and Rafael Devers would be among MLB's best.

Let’s do this for the #SFGiants… Lee - 2.4 fWAR Adames - 4.8 Devers - 6.5 Chapman - 6.4 Ramos - 2.3 Eldridge - N/A Schmitt - 0.7 Bailey - 4.3 Matos - -0.2 Quite the difference
Every hitter in the 2026 Dodgers lineup has recorded a season with at least 4 fWAR. Ohtani - 9.4 fWAR Betts - 10.2 Freeman - 7.7 Tucker - 4.9 Smith - 4.6 Muncy - 4.5 Hernandez - 4.0 Edman - 5.4 Pages - 4.1

Kyle Tucker is a great player but we should have known he would pull a stunt like this. He has zero dog in him

I don’t see a world where there’s not a lockout next year… disappointing.

Joe Salermo said the decision of whether Luis Hernandez starts in the DSL or ACL will be up to Randy Winn, Kyle Haines and the front office, but Salermo hopes Hernandez goes the “non-traditional way” goes to stateside right away.
