SHIN BROS BEGINS!
A Mini Series where me and
@WazpRanger
take a look at the Shin Trilogy of Tokusatsu movies starting with...Shin Godzilla! Out now on Podcasting platforms!
I don't even care that the movie was good at this point but dismissing the CO DIRECTOR OF THE FILM as a "nobody" for reason I can only speculate is disgusting
And with Shin Kamen Rider out for everyone, the 50th anniversary Kamen Rider Trilogy is complete!
We had a return to a beloved Windy City in a new medium.
A bold and controversial reimagining of a classic.
And a return to the roots by a longtime fan of the franchise.
They clearly tried to like mimic how the TV show does it but like...comics and TV are different mediums. Translating one's fun quirks to the other will feel awkward if not done right.
Toei been really shitting the bed with the 50th Anniversary Trilogy Global releases:
Fuuto PI: Not a lot of Anime people caught on to it
Black Sun: Little to no promotion + Amazon Prime glitching on the first week of release
Shin KR: ONE SHOWING ON A WEDNESDAY ONLY
I am so excited that Keiichi Hasegawa is head writing Kamen Rider Gotchard, that I decided to present what me and many perceive, as the Hasegawa DifferenceTM
-Economic recession
-Writer's strike
-Avatar
-Transformers sequel
-Live action adaptation of a Toei anime (that was also popular in Latin America)
Yep. We're back.
Can people stop dissing superhero suits by saying "it looks like a Power Rangers villain"? Its becoming a meme at this point. Also what's wrong with Power Rangers/Toku villains? They look awesome!
I don't Death Battle much but I'm kinda glad Cap vs Ichigou didn't go through because YESSUS this Thumbnail is YIKES. Using the imperialists Japanese flag behind the character who often critiques this shit is uh a choice
Thinking about how Power Rangers RPM did an episode where they poked fun at Power Rangers tropes but later in the same episode they proved why those tropes are so cool and useful:
May as well weigh in on this:
DRAGON BALL HAS A LOT OF "Japanese Power Rangers" REFERENCES! Ginyu Force are just Evil Sentai, Sayianman is a Kamen Rider, and the Gammas are cyborg Ultraman. Also some of you need to learn about the term "Homage" when it comes to media.
Watching Sentai that got adapted into Power Rangers is fun because it makes you hate jokes like "Ancient Ninja Electric Guitar is weird" when you see it in it's original context. Like...this is suppose to be a classic 3 string Japanese guitar fellas. It's not that weird.
Since it's almost done being reuploaded on YouTube....should I make a RPM Video soon? I have A LOT of thoughts on that show with it being one of the ones I grew up on + my personal favorite season but for different reasons then everyone else.
Look i enioy Geats...but why they do her like that? Her intro and death in ONE EPISODE might be the single most mean spirited thing Kamen Rider has done.
Calling Ultraman suits uninspiring and boring is one hell of a take I have seen today. I really like how much they can take spins on the whole Ultra species. Also these suits very much hold up today. They also move very well. Finally, there are really only three that look alike.
I think in times like this,Tokusatsu fans should appreciate the fansubbers who make understanding the shows we love even possible and are still at it despite shitty circumstances.
Ceo of Arcsys has stated that he wants to make more games based on Popular IPs that are especially popular in the West! They use to be hesitant but now want to be proactive. What IP would yall like to see? Naruto FighterZ guaranteed 10 million copies, or maybe Marvel by Arcsys 👀
This has been a friendly reminder that for you fuckers that think Japan is apolitical anime land where anything goes to piss off and learn that's it like every other part of the world, that includes really shitty people who should be adressed.
Screw all this pointless/not well thought out negative takes. Give me a positive opinion on Tokusatsu. It can be a show, character, suit, theme, anything just gush about an aspect of Toku YOU love.
@marysuewriter
"We couldn't give Rafiki a staff because monkeys don't carry sticks in real life" is like "Bandicoots Don't Have Trousers" said without a lick of irony or comedy and I hate it
Remember when Funimation got the license to the Kamen Rider W sequel Anime Fuuto PI meaning it was probably gonna get a Eng Dub but the Funimation got merged into Crunchyroll and we never got a Dub? I love corporate mergers they make everything SOOOO MUCH better for the consumer
"Oh do Shin Gorenger do Shin Gorenger, complete the big 3 Anno"
Guys, Shin Ultraman and Kamen Rider are made because Anno loves those things to death. They are ode's to important parts of his life. I don't think Sentai is as important to Anno as KR or Ultra.
Shin Kamen Rider hands down. Actually like seeing one of my favorite things of all time ON THE BIG SCREEN was magical, helped by the audience being flabbergasted at the amount of blood when the titular Rider started throwing punches. Kino movie!
Just for fun, post examples of two images that seem completely unrelated to most people, but are actually connected for certain people in the know. I'll start:
All of these are quality products but the release strategies for them are ASINE. Fuuto PI is the closest thing they did to trying but you cant even watch it's predecessor show in the West legally yet.
If your excited for Shin Kamen Rider, HIGHLY recommend giving the Classic Manga a read. Shin seems to be taken a lot of influence from this work, from the brutal fights to even characterzations of the cast.
Kamen Rider fans are so insecure, they feel the need to one up everyone else's fandom interests with they're thing.
They be like "Modern Cartoons and Movies stinky, watch my Kamen Rider show"
Man just do what I do and talk about Kamen Rider on it's own merits.
Tokusatsu for us Western Fans are kinda in a weird place at the moment:
PR and Sentai are in very "Wait and See" period with how they expand and give us access to the franchises
Kamen Rider is "trying" to get in the West...and frankly failing miserably at the moment
The
#PowerRangers
Live stage show has returned! The suits are pretty... interesting 😛
It's "An action-packed stunt show featuring the full color spectrum of Rangers training to become heroes at the elite, intergalactic school, The Power Rangers Academy!"
