We need to stop moralising weight loss. The belief that “real” weight loss must come through suffering, rather than evidence-based support, fuels stigma and shame. GLP-1s like Ozempic aren’t shortcuts. They’re valid treatments, backed by science. Time to shift the narrative.

My personal plead as someone living with diabetes - we can have as much wonder drugs & breakthroughs in diabetes care as we wish. But if we don’t tackle stigma on diabetes - biggest barrier for people to access these amazing care - they all means nothing. Please come join us in

“You need to lose weight. You’re unhealthy.” Person tries to lose weight with diet/exercise. Loses some weight then regains back. “You didn’t try hard enough.” Person hires coach. Loses some weight. Regains. “You didn’t want it bad enough.” Person gets medicine to help.

Starmer taking an HIV test has achieved something: we now know how utterly clueless people are about HIV. 1. Heterosexuals can get HIV 2. HIV stigma and fear prevent people from testing. 3. But testing means getting treatment if required 4. Effective treatment makes the virus
