I asked Curtis Sliwa "are you okay with losing and knowing you contributed to Mamdani's victory?" I did my best to relay the concerns of capitalist america and used @BillAckman's tweet as a reference "a vote for Curtis Sliwa is a vote for Zohran Mamdani" This was Sliwa's

Loved @bomani_jones talking about why D’Angelo only releasing three albums doesn’t diminish his greatness because in music/art, we appreciate what was and not what wasn’t. Others have said similar things, that making even one masterpiece gives the audience a lifetime of enjoyment

In 2000, I was reading Audre Lorde’s “The Erotic” along Herbert Marcuse’s “Eros and Civilization” and “Essay on Liberation” I was making connections between love and protest, wrapped all in it was D’Angelo who gave me the permission to be vulnerable.

When people say “conscious back packers” it wasn’t just a style to wear Jan Sports. We carried newspapers, fliers, books, CDs and even video tapes. In either words we were mobile movement intellectuals at the club, church, protest or whatever.
