I finally did some accounting on my local newsletter. $1950 spent on meta ads over 3.5 months. Another few hundred in @beehiiv fees. 1.5 months after pausing my ads to focus on revenue, I'm almost exactly even!. $1650 in direct sponsorships, $700 in Sparkloop and Beehiiv ads.
hot take: you shouldn't start a local newsletter unless you can spend at least $5k on FB ads. If you can't, there's a 99% chance you'll quit before it's big enough to make real money.

Got paid for a local newsletter ad!. It was a unique service business, high dollar. I had never heard of them, but saw they followed us on instagram . Proof IG direct messages work. It is a warm lead. Way more effective than email.
