This work confirms the existence of multiple causal variants in the AS3MT region, including 1. at least one signal shared across populations and 2. apparent population-specific signals due in part common causal variants in one population being very rare in another.

We generated targeted sequencing data for the 10q24.32 region in (1) Strong Heart Study, (2) New Hampshire study of skin cancer, and (3) Health Effects of Arsenic Longitudinal Study. Each cohort has well-documented exposure to arsenic through drinking water.
