There is MONEY in cloud
And multiple paths to get there
Network + cloud = 💰💰
Dev + cloud = 💰💰
Cyber + cloud - 💰💰
Basically any specialty pays more in cloud
@Cernovich
Holy cow you just brought back a flood of memories
My grandmother ALWAYS put her thumb in front of my big toe when trying on shoes to make sure I had space to grow
The thing you think are normal when you are young and poor
@Cernovich
The TikToks are real
Dad afforded 2 kids and a modest 3 bedroom home with a stay at home wife and 2 modest vacations a year for a salary of around 30k a year
Life was GOOD
You know how I know his system works? I've quite literally hired people before who have followed a similar framework.

account may be private but his content is live and golden
Officially threw my hat in the ring to take a promotion and it looks like its my position to lose.
Will be responsible for a full P&L
I took almost a month to really think long and hard about the opportunity. There's a lot of danger here for me. I'm older than most jungle…

I dunno what Bible these guys are reading
In my Bible, Elijah called fire from Heaven and consumed a punch of priests of baal and made fun of them the entire time he did it
We need more Elijah
US candidates
You have heard the meme that Prajeet is coming for your 300k remote job?
Let me warn you about the location with the more dangerous applicats:
Costa Rica
Time zone and culturally aligned. All speak fluent English'. Extremely motivated and gracious individuals…
If you want to exit the system, you need money
Sales, finance, tech can all get you money
If in tech, cloud is best path to cash
Network + cloud = 💵💵
Dev + cloud = 💵💵
Cyber + cloud - 💵💵
Specialize plus add cloud = $$$
I literally can't find enough Sr. people to hire
I know a lot of my followers are early career, but I'm telling you if you will just put in the time and get some experience, in 5 years you can be approaching 200k
This is a fantastic view into the mind of an enterprise hiring manager. You absolutely should watch
My take-away: there is often a large gulf between the skills needed to operate in the SMC vs the Enterprise space and if you want the high end dollars you have to be able to move…

AZ-104 is how you level up past entry level
It's a TOUGH exam because it covers topics across all Azure domains
If you're sitting at service desk/call center level and want to get to sysadmin level then gaining the skills covered in this exams will do it
Not entirely positive what is happening here but it looks like a great deal
Appears to be Udemy AZ-900 practice exams for free
Figured I would share!
Let me know in comments if someone gets this if it worked and if its any good
Tea leaves
Off shore / near shore talent bolstered with AI and automated SaaS solutions is going to gut the market for mid level talent (100-150k jobs)
Market in a few years will be a few highly paid problem solvers on US soil with low end talent from everywhere else
Neither AWS or Azure is a bad choice
I DO think Azure is a smarter path due to reasons stated below
BUT
If you want to be bulletproof moving forward you need to understand ARCHITECTURE
How are complex systems built, operated, secured, monitored, etc
AWS and Azure are just…
I'll reveal a secret... I have plans to put out Anki Flash Card decks for full ranges of certification exams
Sourcing the information is difficult at the moment but I think I may have a lead that will work out
Stay tuned
Even if you don't "join" the jungle, the jungle represents an easy way to identify a network of generally smart individuals with actionable advice
I've used info from
@BowTiedOpossum
to spin up now TWO IRL local businesses and one of them is actually doing ok
I've also used…
So you’re seeing a bunch of tweets about the two year anniversary of the BowTiedJungle and have no idea what’s going on?
Here’s your intro to the jungle, and how to join the most unique network on the internet.

@BowTiedBull
Seen some of these guys asking for insane packages.
300k plus options
Can hire someone just as good for 180 base
They haven't realized yet that the 2020 cruise is over
Reminder for those trying to get a leg in to or up in cloud:
I've got guides for:
- Microsoft certification landscape
- Careers in Microsoft Azure and cloud
- AZ-900
- AZ-104
Plus a new exam guide should be coming THIS WEEK
LinkedIn is an absolutely crazy social network
The value of the things I read over there, compared to here, is almost nil
Every once and a while I will see something that makes me chuckle... thats about it
Need some study material this weekend?
I've got study guides for:
- AZ-900
- AZ-104
- AZ-700
And paid subs get access to the ANKI flashcards for each
Zero reason you can't pass those with the info provided and your own hard work
I was treading water for about 5 straight years with only minimal gains training squat, deadlift, bench, and OHP. Multiple sets per week all in the 5-15 rep range
I'm getting older. Joints were staying beat up. Got to the point last year I dreaded going to the gym
On a whim I…
This is exactly how my workouts looked when suddenly I stopped growing.
Wasn’t until I slashed volume about 50% & upped intensity to or near failure on every exercise that my growth took off.
Wish I would’ve started lower volume, high intensity years sooner.
There's zero reason for you to not get a tech job... twitter alone has literally everything you need
Mark here is well on his way to a 6 figure job in cloud security

"Cloud is just someone else's computer"
Yes
- If that computer is running on purpose built hardware you cannot buy
- If it is running a purpose built OS that you can't get
- And if it is running in a scaled out set of datacenters that only a handful of companies on earth have…
Want to know what a significant number of my current project load is coming from?
-Orgs with HQs outside of DFW/New York/Austin/SF/Etc
-Implements RTO or hybrid work within last 6 mos
-Has initiatives that involve heavy use of advanced Azure services (IaC/YAML/AI)
-Can't find…
These two plus AZ-900 will get you started
Follow the
@bowtiedcyber
roadmap and I would imagine you would qualify for MOST entry level roles in cloud security
Add in specialty certifications that I detail in my career guide and start moving your way up the career ladder…
Consulting trick:
Figure out what the market is paying for certain types of work
Figure out how to do it faster than everyone else (automation)
Charge fixed fee for the work and sell the outcome and not your time
Win
Expect the job market to get tighter
Lots of quality people are getting cut in tech and more to come
Opportunity is still out there but you need to go the extra mile to set yourself apart
Its not 2020 any more.
Level 2 cloud skill you need:
Infrastructure as code
- BICEP - super easy to learn and read and supports all azure services day 1. Decompiles to ARM
- Terraform - trash compared to BICEP and harder to work with BUT it has third party supportability and that makes it useful
If you can't get a job in tech it's simply because you don't want to
The jungle has everything you need
Want cloud with Azure focus? Follow and sub to my Substack
Want cyber?
@BowTiedCyber
Want data?
@BowTied_Raptor
Need job search help?
@BowTiedHH
Stop making excuses
If you're comfortable with your career you can rest today
If you think you can do better, you should take this weekend as an opportunity to grow.
Cloud is high paying and not going anywhere.
I have TOLD you guys this and tons of you didnt believe me
"Cloud is just someone else's computer lol"
NO
Microsoft, Amazon, and Google are playing at a level NO ONE ELSE can compete at.
Adapt or die
2025 will be one of the ugliest years in SaaS ever.
Multiple advanced models launching, more hardware being produced by NVIDIA and now Microsoft will push to produce their own servers.
The type of offers and competition that will be flying towards customers will be insane.
How to fail at a cloud career:
1)Skip the basics like networking and powershell
2)Ignore certifications because "they arent worth it"
3)Hyper-focus on niche services and technologies
4)Refuse to build a portfolio to help proxy experience if you are early career
5)Refuse to…
How do certifications affect how I view your resume?
1) It helps me be more confident in your expertise and can even help overcome some lack of experience
2) I look first at resumes with Azure/M365 certs cause I need an amount to remain a MS partner
Add certs to your resume
Welcome to all the newcomers
I am super grateful for you taking your time to follow me. I am hopeful I can provide value in the weeks/months to come as we dive into Azure

1⃣ schedule a regular cadence with your boss. I know you talk to your boss when needed... but ask for a once a week or every other week call just to touch base
Use this time detail accomplishments
My study guides use a minimum of 3 sources
- Microsoft Learn
- Microsoft Docs
- John Savill
I have some premium guides with anki flash cards as a bonus
The best way to master a cert it to learn from multiple sources.
YouTube, Udemy, books and a learning path if that's provided.
Choose 2 or more
For Comptia A+ I'm using Professor Messer, Andrew Ramdayal on Udemy and Cert master
The cloud is the best thing to happen to IT since the internet
A major cloud presence will be an absolute requirement to be competitive in the future
The fortune companies know this which is why they are still today spending millions to improve their cloud capability
Its not…
@BowTiedIT
The cloud is the worst thing to happen to IT since the internet.
Way too many people in corporate positions just dancing around a meadow pretending like some other company is going to assume and handle all their risk and protect them from all threats for a low monthly fee.
"hahaha I was talking but I had mute on!"
Unpopular opinion:
Its 2023. We have been working from home for 3+ years now
Its small inefficiencies like this that add up to managers and customers asking you to come back to the office
Be a professional and learn how your dadgum…
Networking is still an important skill for cloud professionals
Many orgs will require their cloud services to all run on private networking
The shared responsibility model means the provider will take care of layer 1 & 2 of the OSI model
But you need to know 3 - 7
Resume:
❌interpersonal skills - do not list you are a team player... this is expected
✅ Technical skills - I need to know the tech you're good at, list these somewhere
rofl... seen this happen... spin up something expensive as hell for testing. Forget to turn it off. Whoops
This is also why your governance strategy needs to be solidified BEFORE you do anything significant
Microsoft has a free certificate program
Don't confuse this with certifications that are still important but these could be a good way to set yourself apart from the pack
@BowTiedBull
My favorite part of following BtB advice is that even if you miss a particular tweet every now and again, you can still distill the overarching theme down to "do the opposite of what the normies do"
To make it far in consulting you're going to have to be a people person
As a naturally introverted person, I have to consciously work on this even after 20 years
You may not like it, but you won't get far playing the anti social tech geek
Unlimited PTO is never unlimited and in fact can be a downside
- You are always being tracked whether you know it or not ESPECIALLY if you are in a billable role. There 100% is a powerbi report or similar that shows your profitability
- There is ALWAYS someone you work with…
In an interview... one of the things I am going to ask you is to expand on the technical vs functional differences in various networking services in Azure
If you can't tell me Azure Load Balancers operate at Layer 4 of the OSI model and App Gateways operate at Layer 7 and then…
Just had a student DM me on discord
Said he had instructors at his bootcamp say Network+ isn't needed
Bunch of fucking idiots
No wonder no one can find a job even though we have 750k open positions
They can't even lay a good foundation
If you want to have the highest chance of landing a role in 2023, add specialty focus to your tech stack
If you're a cloud practitioner, add to it:
- Cyber
- Data
- DevOps
- Networking
One or more of those will help you stand out in a crowd of generalists
✈️United Airlines grounded its entire fleet due to a tech outage today✈️
I do not know the detail but I can safely guess it was a problem with one of their old mainframe based systems

Example AZ-900 question
You plan to deploy a service to Azure virtual machines.
You need to ensure that the service will be available if a datacenter fails.
What should you use as part of the virtual machine deployment?
A. availability sets
B. proximity placement groups
C.…

Been in some virtual meetings this week with the exec team planning cal yr 2024
Lemme just break this down simply for you:
You have a very narrow opportunity to become financially independent in tech
The window will be closing on high dollar jobs for the masses soon
I woke up at 5:30
Put in a full day at W2 cause all the other loser directors took a 4 day weekend

@BowTiedCyber
@BrahApache
If you're already in security ie you have net+, sec+, traffic analysis, splunk (SIEM), python then AZ-500 will open up doors in cloud focused orgs and higher salaries. Very worth it
Dont skip the foundation tho
Microsoft surveyed a subset of customers using SAP
92% of respondents are planning to migrate some or all of that workload to Azure in the next 12 - 24 mos
Probably nothing
Key architecture skill you need : DIAGRAMS (visio/whatever)
There is a subtle but important separation from those who can throw a bunch of service icons on a page..
And those who can clearly explain a system and its interconnections in visual form
Its tech art. Be an artist
When I started working out I brute forced my way to heavy weights
Tons of volume and tons of calories
Worked pretty good til I got older
Found myself getting fat and staying injured
Training smarter these days

AWS - biggest market share. Fine choice
Azure - fastest growth. Biggest lack of skilled candidates atm... IMO a better choice but whatever still good
GCP - distant third... don't waste your time
@BowTiedAzure
I'm guessing you would recommend either AWS and Azure? Or take a peak at Google? I dont think their IT cert was an out the blue thing. Do you think Google is expanding its Cloud territory?
What sort of Stockholm syndrome mess causes people to write these long posts on LinkedIn about how grateful they are to a company after laying them off
Watching for the RE bloodbath. May already be happening in your town. This is 3 acres of LAKE FRONT property. Honestly wondering if I should pull the trigger or wait
@BowTiedBroke
For my followers:
AU TO MA TION
Heavy experience in powershell and Terraform with a strong indication you can get billable within a week of hire?
Interview would be 5 mins and you'd get an offer
Most job seeker's out there have never seen an employer's market.
While getting a job in tech was never easy, it hasn't been this hard in a while.
So my question to you is, what's setting you apart from everyone else applying to the same job?
Woke up with 45 followers. Now at 51. God is good.
Profile has changed on this account. 2023 we begin our journey to bring Wifi home by value posting about Microsoft Azure and related. Yes I am late. No I don't care.
