George T. Stagg was born this day in 1835 in Kentucky, and served as a Captain in the Union Army during the Civil War. In 1878 he purchased the O.F.C. Distillery and in 1878, renamed it the George T. Stagg Distillery. Today we call that distillery "Buffalo Trace".

We’ve always been big fans of Jefferson’s Ocean, but Voyage 15 is truly outstanding. It’s the first wheated voyage and the wheat really compliments the salted caramel flavors brought on by the time at sea.

Today is National Bourbon Brotherhood Day! On this day we celebrate the camaraderie we've enjoyed, and the friendships we've made while sharing a pour of America's Native Spirit.
To you, brothers.... Cheers!

We have an early contender for "Worst Whiskey Article of 2023". Bourbon must be aged for 2 years? Made from 51% mash? Indiana is now getting in on the Bourbon Game? East Coast is birthplace of bourbon? Old Van Ripple distillery in Frankfurt? 😂

Happy Birthday to Barbara Eden who is 92 years old today. Her character, "Jeannie", was beautiful, lived in a bourbon bottle and granted your every wish. The bottle was a 1964 Beam's Choice Christmas Decanter that previously held 90 proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon, aged 6 years.
Cheers to Julian P. Van Winkle, Jr., who was born this day in 1914. He was a Captain in the US Army who fought in the Pacific theater and named his M4 Sherman tank, the “Old Fitz”.

Ten years ago this month, 23 men gathered at an underground speakeasy in Louisville. It was the first meeting of the Bourbon Brotherhood. Throughout this month we'll be reflecting on the road we've traveled, and contemplating what lies ahead.

The three brothers chose to start their new venture in their hometown of Louisville. They say they want to produce a quality bourbon whiskey in an industry that has thus far remained largely inaccessible to minority entrepreneurs...

Buffalo Trace is replacing Oak barrels with Alligator barrels - a more sustainable resource. Alligators grow to full size in just 10 years, compared to over 100 years for an Oak tree.

I haven't read the article yet, but I think that's what it's about.
We had a really fun time at our most recent Bourbon Brotherhood gathering with Lexie Phillips, Assistant Distiller for Jack Daniels. Event was held at the Black Rabbit Speakeasy.
