Jon Snow is one of the few diamonds in a sea of useless mouths. Channel Four News and to be fair, Newsnight have a greater share of these diamonds than any other presentations.

You have enough supporters for 24 hour perimeter security of your home at whatever distance you wish. Just say and we will stand with you (from a great distance).
Time to end the cruelty and barbarity of 'the hunt'.
Children are dying at an increasing rate (although there will be a brief dip soon following 1/2 term infection drop).
Its time for educators to step up. You are on your own, the Govt. will not help. What are you going to do this 1/2 term to keep your children safe?
What do you do after 100 kids die of a preventable disease, 90 over the last 10 months?
Normal folk: Protect them.
UK Govt., Governors and most HT: Nothing.

He is so fortunate to have a Mum who is knowledgeable, wise and whose judgement is impeccable. Especially in this area. He was reasonable because he had no doubt in your qualification for your view or investmentvin his best interests. You took turmoil from his mind.
Some 'anti-lockdown' and 'anti-mask' idiots wear a yellow Star of David because they claim their tiny restrictions are equivalent to this.
Utterly repugnant self-important, stupid and insensitive scum.
Step 1. Take it all in.
Step 2. Search for Cilla.
Step 3. Identify persons.
Step 4. Laugh.
Step 5. Realise you are too uncultured to recognise the source material.
Step 6. "Like".
@Lisgetsreal
Oh Lis. Heartbreaking. So, so sad for that little girl. He would have been so proud to see the woman she became.
Be gentle with yourself. x
@fesshole
Haha. I came home after a night out to hear the sounds of my stepdad humping Mum as I went to put the key in the door. After an evil moment considering interrupting the climax, I sat on the doorstep and politely waited until they finished.
Summertime and open windows kill privacy
This is life and death. This is illness and disability. This is priority.
Ofsted don't matter, League tables don't matter. Keeping kids safe matters.
It is going to get grim until March. Again. Its predictable.
Govs., Heads, SLT, Teachers, TAs, what are you going to do?
@CpmGray
I wouldn't, but you should be where you feel most comfortable. The country isn't completely broken but its standards in public life are, its services are partly broken, its democracy is fairly broken & it is a deeply unequal society in every possible sense.
A very 'uneasy' place.
@AnnaYearley
@MissBethanEJohn
Even as a (large) man, I would no longer get into their patrol vehicle. I would scream for help, unless we were waiting outside for a van or other officers. If I were a woman, the screaming would start before the cuffs. As a passerby, I will video and ask.
For a few years as a child I lived on a farm in Lincolnshire. It was a mixed farm with an assortment of farm manager and labourers. The Landowner lived in the Big House in the village. I went there for a birthday party; they had servants.
I think this will be the big scandal of the pandemic. In spite of an airborne respiratory infection being the oft imagined horror, it was't recognised when it came. That cost hundreds of thousands of lives over at least 18 months. Prof G called it early.
Infectious diseases doctors have - paradoxically - been the slowest to accept the airborne nature of SARS-CoV-2. This is because they were hampered by a false set of beliefs, built and reinforced over *decades*, depicting respiratory infections as spread by droplets. 1/
The government has deliberately created a crisis as a campaign tool. They have stopped processing asylum claims, letting numbers build up, in barges or hotels, just so at the next election they can say they’re the ones to fix it
All schools should have mandatory mask wearing (THE FUCKING SHOES DON'T MATTER!).
Classrooms should be as well ventilated as possible (TELL THEM TO PUT THEIR COATS ON).
HEPA filters (probably going to have to be home-made owing to budget probs.) must be introduced to classrooms

Kilometres of tunnels housing missiles and supplies. Some big enough to drive a truck through and we are supposed to beleive that Hamas had to hide a handful of rounds in an incubator?
The IDF are just trolling the World now.

I was a teacher. I taught with a trans-woman I knew for 15 yrs as a man (except for most of that time it was obvious he wasn't). She is a woman. I taught with a trans-man who for 5 yrs I knew as a woman. He is a man. The kids accepted them. Their loved ones accepted them.
@mrnickharvey
I'm sorry Dude. Mum has mostly gone now. There were tough times but she has been free of awareness and distress for a while now. I can only sing to her. You will always be able to play for your Dad. He will always enjoy it. Solidarity and sympathy.
@Lenniesaurus
"Even more annoying than Greta Thunberg" is a badge of pride of which I, as an old Englishman, am inordinately jealous! Bravo! A glowing testament indeed!
Oh, and stop with the enhanced cleaning stuff, its airborne. (Think: like smoke).
If I was still at work, I would be your nightmare, unless you were trying to save kids. Then I'd be your strongest ally.
No large gatherings should take place. Lunches should be taken in groups (bubbles?). Breaks need to be staggered.
Chase absence for safeguarding but DON'T FORCE ATTENDANCE.
Enable online access.
You can't 'social distance' in groups or lines.
Share case info. (anon).
@SJimons
I thought this this morning. The end of the community spirit post-war and the final fruition of the Thatcher dictum "there is no such thing as society". I am sorry for your generation that we lost.

I thought his speech today, the intelligible part anyway, was an excellent argument for joining the EU; the largest free-trade block in the World.
Just what potion are they imbibing?

This makes me so sad.
As sad as when my daughter told me 'the facts of life' of being a young woman a decade ago. I had no idea.
Men must police men: sons, brothers, friends, strangers. We .ust do better.
@chrischirp
That is the best bit of science communication I have seen. Humanity wrapped around perspicacity and dissected to pure clarity.
Perfect. Thank you for all your work this year.
Nadine Dorries: All the scientists were telling Boris to lockdown, and Boris Johnson was the only one saying NO.
Johnson has spent YEARS preparing for today...
And before he's even sat down, Nadine, his number one fan, was just like: "Yeah, he killed everyone!"

I'm an old male (I now understand could be referred to as Cis Het). I don't know much about transmen and women, I have worked with a couple, but it *is* my business. Discrimination is an evil. Humans are human and I will absolutely side with those victimised. I stand with you.
My regular duty as a Cishet man to aknowledge the shame that comes with my sex. I had no idea about this until my (adult) daughter told me. Every woman I have asked since has confirmed it. Not all men but always men.
Its everyones duty to safeguard each other and stop SA.
In my lifetime I have been sexually assaulted by male classmates at school, physically assaulted by drunk men at home, sexually assaulted by boyfriends, threatened physically and verbally by men, intimidated by unknown men whilst walking home, groped, leered at, whistled at,

Most of their colleagues accepted them. Anyone that denies their gender can fuck right off. I taught a trans kid, got used to their new name fast. Everyone accepted them too. 'Feminists' denying the rights of these women are misogynist allies.
Solidarity with trans folk. x

That was Thatcher & Major.
Maastricht, the Single Market and Cabotage. Its why the shelves were full, stuff was cheap and inflation low. Blair just maintained the Tory legacy. Oh and reduced poverty, rough sleeping, illiteracy and gave the NHS and schools the bigges funding boost

The benefits of EU were abstract and invisible to most people. The blizzard of propaganda bolstered their identity and comforted them with lies. The only surprise is that this is still working: blaming the EU for our woes when we left a year ago and enacted our treaty in January.
The RSPB were slapped down by a Tufton alumni when they stood up for the environment against big property developers. Don't let our National Trust be subverted by more.

The "vile human beings that are making money from refugees" are him and his fellow Tories milking racism to keep them on the gravy train.
Immoral, illegitimate and inexcuseable.

You are a better person than me. I can't forgive. Their last chance was 2019. They killed tens of thousands more than a different vote and stole money from the poor to give to the rich. I don't speak to any now.
This vile bully is still going. Completely without any notion of professionalism, appropriateness or duty. Like all bullies, a big mouth, small mind and ansent morals.
What a sad specimen.
Interesting moralistic take from a newspaper that thinks challenging foul-mouthed internet trolls on their hypocrisy is worse than mocking people who have died.

Nope. That man makes me sick. He made millions of others sicker. Hundreds of thousands died. He should be in a court, not courted.

I know you don't need oldmansplaining but fwiw from an introvert who acted like an extrovert: You are a consummate actor, you will wear the rôle and shine. No-one will know the inside, it will be swamped by the effort of performance. After, everyone will congratulate you.

Also, life is for living not 'doing'. There is no higher purpose than to be kind, gentle and creative.

Really not. Staying home is not the same as struggling to help folk live and giving them comfort when you can't. Especially if you know that so much of it was avoidable.

We called them "Baker days" to commemorate the loss of 5 days holiday to be filled with INSET. It was new 'conditions of service' imposed along with other duties which were redundant as the last was " anything else the Head shall reasonably direct."

Its a misleading statement. Schools never "closed" in the normal sense. They moved to directed home learning except for vulnerable children who continued to attend. The work of the school continued (albeit less effectively) more safely.
This is all about child minding for work.
@RussInCheshire
This would only be credible if other preparations were made:
ventilators
testing
ppe
coherent plans for restrictions.
They weren't because this was incompetence. I think your "mate" works for Minitrue not DoH.
On this day long ago, you brought me into the World. We were together, near or far for all the orbits since. Until the last one when you ended. You live on in me and now in life around you as your molecules are reassembled in new life. The circle of life rolls on.
@BethMatthewsz
That's hard. Matt can videocall, and you have us. You are connected. I hope your mind gets well soon and lets you get back to the life you deserve.
Everyone just wants you well.
@JamesMelville
Depends. I am retired and fairly anti-social so my risk of infection is lower. My Mum has fairly severe dementia and is calmed and reassured by my visits. She is bedbound and will die of pneumonia at some point. If she was well, I would not visit. I visit every day.
@ShakinthatChalk
I wish I had.
I spent a year writing useless lesson plans after the same situation. They were almost never looked at,only checked that they were there with the colour-coded seating plan and pupil profiles.
Added 1 hour to each day.
Today, I would be that man.
