Just been told to wear ear plugs during Oppenheimer tonight, and that that will result in me missing 1/3 of the movie, but that that is okay because it’s 3 hours long so I’ll still enjoy a full length regular movie.

Such a great filmography - BUCK AND THE PREACHER, ODDS AGAINST TOMORROW, and THE WORLD, THE FLESH AND THE DEVIL to name a few faves. RIP.

Knowing Harry Belafonte was still alive was like having a mythical reminder that giants still walked around in the world. A hero. RIP.

Was recommending some new films to a bunch of non film industry people yesterday and after blank expressions when I listed multiple titles, the first glimmer of excitement and recognition was when I said the words “A24.” Strange times.

on top of the news that Andrea Riseborough's Oscar nomination won't be rescinded, i'm also hearing word that Paul Mescal's nod will be "doubled" (??) because of "the way he says the word 'poppet.'" reaching out to the Academy for comment.

My first cover story for @CinemaScopeMag ✨ is a spicy interview with Alice Diop on Saint Omer, the question of artistic universality, and the exasperating experience of dealing w certain pockets of the French media/pop culture as a Black filmmaker. Voila👇 https://t.co/BSn69y4yOW

Was up early for a flight this morning and a bit out of it - mixed up jars in the bathroom & realized too late that I’d covered my whole face in a thick coat of Aveda’s texturizing hair cream.

Ugh, more fresh hell from 2022. @milliedechirico is just the coolest, loveliest, funniest person with incredible specialized knowledge, amazing taste and a delight to work with. Can't wait to see what she does next ❤️‍🔥

Desperate for a new show in the vein of Shetland and Broadchurch - there are way too many pale imitations that lack the smart writing and great characters! And @cjbuccafusco has declared the camerawork in Vera unwatchable. Any recs?

Actually Tár did leave me with one burning question, and that’s: what movie did she win an Oscar for?

For the past year I’ve been making my first tv show with my friend @nlyonne & a ton of talented people. It’s an old school case-of-the-week mystery series called POKER FACE, it premieres January 26th on @peacock, and I’m VERY excited about it. BEHOLD A TEASER! #PokerFacePeacock

I had a couple of lovely conversations with the incandescent, foul-mouthed Paul Mescal, and profiled him for the @NYTimes. Thanks to Charlotte Wells, Barry Jenkins, Rebecca Frecknall, Olivia Colman and Saoirse Ronan for their contributions.

“The Hidden” (1987) is now on @criterionchannl. It’s both a body horror movie and a buddy movie. It opens with a great chase sequence and ends with a wonderful intimate scene. It’s quite incredible and more people should watch it.
