I am very excited to announce that I will be joining @VCU_Liver following my graduation from Transplant Hepatology fellowship. As someone who loves caring for patients with liver disease, teaching, and researching the best organ ever, I cannot think of a better place to be! 🎉🤩.
.@ArunJSanyalVCU: This recognition of our high-quality GI-Hep program as one with tremendous academic research performance reflects the wide-ranging expertise of our dedicated faculty and staff, who make the science in our program possible. #livertwitter

Maybe better than him getting openly racially profiled on @SouthwestAir?. And no, we did not buy refundable tickets but what completely outrageous change fees (at least 2-3x what we paid for roundtrip) and an outrageous charge to cancel one leg of booking?!. When did airtravel=💩.

Such an important topic. 👉👈Many point fingers re: who is responsible for managing mental health in liver disease, with hepatology uncomfortable w/ mental health and psychiatry uncomfortable w/ CLD. Result: Our patients get left behind. ✅ SSRIs are safe and first-line.
Depression and anxiety affect nearly 1️⃣ of 2️⃣ patients with liver disease, yet often go unaddressed. 😫. Our latest editorial in @HepCommJournal calls on hepatologists to screen 🔎 and support the emotional burden in #cirrhosis, with pragmatic tools from recent studies 🛠️

Happy someone did this study. 👉Most GIs do prescribe PPI ppx after banding. I used to, too. The evidence does not support this, with PPIs associated with all sorts of badness in cirrhosis. 🛑Non-indicated PPIs in cirrhosis!.

I think this was/is me. Though having some patience is certainly good, too….
Patience is not always a virtue. Impatience is fuel for taking initiative. Being content to wait can make people reactive. A distaste for delays motivates them to be proactive. "Restless" kids often grow up to become resourceful adults.

Injectable naltrexone should be available to patients at hospital discharge and in clinic for our patients with ALD and AUD. Pro tip: prescribe a few naltrexone PO for the end of the month when naltrexone injectable begins to wear off.
#CGH4ALL📣 💥.Injectable Naltrexone has an overall better GI and liver safety profile compared to other FDA-approved drugs for Alcohol use disorder (AUD) . @Wei_Zhang_Liver @doc_sooyoung. @AGA_CGH🔥!🔗 . Reported by @ifrahfatima. @BlaneyMD @NoureddinMD

My time @LiverFellow has been one of my most impactful career experiences. As I 🎓 from training, I will take the friendships made through LFN working with a fantastic group of learners (including 🌟 faculty editors) to improve Hepatology patient care. What an all-🌟team!.
As the academic year ends, we celebrate the many transitions that come with it! We are so 🙏🙏 to our outgoing LFNers & welcome our new content writers!. We will also be transitioning LFN leadership, with @SarahKhan9894 and @SarahUttal stepping up!. It's going to be a great year!
