Depressing? Not for me. I’d say it’s a relief people are listening to scientists, who use evidence and peer-reviewed work to form their views on public health.
I too want to be out of this lockdown - we will get there by following the experts’ advice.
“At present Melbourne has a curfew from 8pm to 5am, should the curfew end?” Yes (28%) No (72%).
“Every person living in Victoria must wear a face when leaving home. Should wearing masks be compulsory?” Yes (89%) No (11%).

Families and friends are separated by a long-term closed border. WA’s summer sports teams are locked out of the state. So many events and venues are cancelled/closed for NYE. This cannot be ‘entirely normal.’ Delaying the inevitable is not a solution.
FRIENDLY REMINDER
Here in Western Australia daily life is entirely normal, 2019 normal. We go about our daily lives with essentially no restrictions, chat about meet-ups at the weekend, plan parties, go to restaurants and cafes without fear. Life is really, really good.
