So what's a big #PiCluster look like? Like this! This is just one of five 150 node cluster modules we've built for @LosAlamosNatLab using humble @Raspberry_Pi and BitScope Blade

Woo hoo! @Raspberry_Pi Compute Module 4! Our view? For deeply embedded designs that need full PCIe I/O, it's the ONLY game in town.

Nearly ready! BitScope Micro Cluster, 4 x Raspberry Pi 4B 8G, switch, power, mounting, cooling, control and diagnostics in a compact 1RU with connection via a single PoE network cable, now in pre-release testing (shown dogfooding with BitScope Mini).

The #HPC world is the poorer for the untimely loss of Rich “the guy in the red hat” Brueckner. He had an infectious enthusiasm for all things HPC that will be missed by many.

The Raspberry Pi software stack is maturing. Raspbian will continue to exist but with the addition of a 64bit kernel (most welcome news!) a new OS naming convention is needed.
Useful forum post from @plugwash describing the historical confusion around the name "Raspbian", and the thinking behind adopting the name "Raspberry Pi OS" for future @Raspberry_Pi images.

On Cluster Blade, each node has a BMC, essentially a "tiny BitScope" that monitors current, voltage and temperature. It controls the cooling fan, manages node power and communicates via an extensible RS485 control bus to implement the control plane.

Canonical Kubernetes Cluster; two nodes, perfect! . We can confirm #BladeDuo from @element14_Avnet supports a pair of #RaspberryPi4 when overclocked to 2GHz! It pulls 2A+ at 12V (24W) and hots up but we have the cooling solution coming. Stay tuned!.
If you're waiting for your #RaspberryPi4, but have some RPi2 nodes collecting dust (I have 10!) - it turns out that #kubernetes with #k3s works just fine. Here's my 2x node RPi2 cluster in a BitScope Blade Duo from @BitScopeDesigns. Just follow my guide -

You can wait for the @docker team to package for #buster for your #picluster or read @alexellisuk post and patch it now :).

Now we're getting serious. .
TFW: kubectl get node => 24x RPi 🤓. Running k3s with Raspbian Buster and hosted in a @BitScopeDesigns blade. 24GB RAM, 96 Cores, 786GB storage, 48W at idle. Thanks to @miniNodes and @Rancher_Labs for helping with SDcards. @Raspberry_Pi #FaaSFriday #cablemanagement
