Today, after yesterday's #IPCC report, everything is back to normal – as always. We continue to ignore the climate crisis as if nothing happened. Our societies are still in denial, and those in power go on with their never ending quests to maximise profits. We cannot afford this.

Both Wikipedia and Science have their limitations. Still, in the latest version, they provide a very useful best effort result. But if you accept everything ever written in the version history of the Wikipedias, you have a major problem. Isn't that similar to science?

Apologies to the colleagues involved, perhaps putting their heart into this. I look forward to any discussion. Essentially, what seems to be done too often in big data is to collect everything that can be found, assuming that scientific publ. are always good. They are not.

When I was a young biology student in the 80s, we discussed the overwhelming influence of the #EU #CAP on biodiversity destruction. I would not have guessed that we had to write this paper 35 years later. Today I consider our ongoing behavior a crime against humanity.
Do we need a scientists' statement? As heaps of evidence are there & ignored, evidence that new CAP is weak ( https://t.co/AwzmUQd48o) may not help. I think it's time 2 express concensus in scientific community, across disciplines. Share with us: why did u sign our #CAPcall?

Problem solved: the obligatory field in our #CAPcall asking to provide a DOI of at least one paper (as a proof you are scientists), now indeed requires only 1 DOI (& not 2) . I believe this helps PhD students and others who feel they are scientists but could not sign so far.

Some colleagues asked whether scientists should be activists. I reply: 1) active is not activism; 2) scientists are citizens; & 3) I feel responsibile to alert when public concerns are justified, and knowledge is there to improve. 1429 signatories on #CAPcall agree. U2? Then RT!
