Decentralised peer-to-peer money that is finite in supply is key. Any governance in control of money creation and supply will do what it wants. Denied that power it will do what it's told.
Any institution, established to deal with a problem, should by definition be working towards its own redundancy. If it mutates into perpetuating its own existence above all else, it's a racket.
