ππSUCCESSππ Thank you @TowerHamletsNow for fixing this. Wheelchair users can now cross this entrance way to a four bay car park and continue their journey @THLivingStreets @BetterStreetsTH

How do we end up in a situation where we prioritise a 4 space car park over pedestrians? No dropped kerbs = wheelchair users unable to use the pavement Reported to @TowerHamletsNow CC: @CllrKabirAhmed @mukitmbe πBrick Lane, Bethnal Green #AccessibleStreets π§βπ¦½π§βπ¦Όπ§βπ¦―

A big week for safer streets and active travel in Tower Hamlets >> "Mr Rahman and the council have ridden roughshod over the plurality of voices who live and work in Tower Hamlets, in particular the majority of households in the borough who donβt own a car."
The Evening Standard covers our High Court challenge against Tower Hamlets' Β£2.5m safer streets removal. https://t.co/yuWfPc6ELa

Bethnal Green's streets have been made healthier and safer by the LTNs: proposals to remove them are misguided, as we argue in this article about the petition organised by @SaveBGstreets. https://t.co/LGPsnUtSXj

A crash this evening on one of Tower Hamlets' more unpleasant multi-stage crossings for pedestrians, at West India Dock Road. π

But it's OK, cos a handful of buses per hour will use the new tunnel π€
Wait, tolls were necessary to disincentivise driving to keep #AirPollution down. Now the tolls are being made cheaper, using ULEZ scrappage money?? What else could Β£12m be spent onβ¦.Cheaper public transport? School Streets? Cleaner buses? #Silvertown

Burdett Road is also on the route of the stalled Hackney to Isle of Dogs cycleway, which'd give a safe, north-south connection through the borough, linking homes and jobs. What's so bad about that, @towerhamletsnow ? How did the good folk of Burdett Rd and Grove Rd hurt you? π«€

Would have been nice for @thameswater and @towerhamletsnow to provide an alternative crossing during these works on Burdett Road...

As others have pointed out, there are @TfL crossings (including here in #TowerHamlets) that don't even have green man phases, so pedestrians have to dash and hope. But money that could be used to fix these is being spent on subsidising driving. Think again, @MayorofLondon!
Well this isn't going to increase traffic is it... https://t.co/0OSdqfJ5qN

The consultation on refreshing the transport strategy is likely to happen this autumn. And transport will be discussed at the Overview and Scrutiny Committee at 6.30 this (Tues) evening - you can watch it here: https://t.co/GS8SJ1WrKw

Council priorities include: - Delivering 1,000 more car parking spaces - Avoiding 'penalising' those who drive - 'Reopening' the roads (they *are* all open, to people) - and some vague support for public transport and clean air, despite the contradictory focus on driving π

Again, while very positive, ULEZ, Whitechapel step-free access and the fares freeze are not Tower Hamlets Council projects. So what are the Council priorities? On the next tweet you may recognise some from the Aspire manifesto >>>

In the presentation put together for today's meeting, they list some wins, although many were driven through by TfL (the Elizabeth Line?!). School Streets may be higher in number, but they are not always being enforced.
