So shocked and devastated to hear the news about my PhD mentor and best cheerleader, Dave Allis, PhD. Will always think of him when I see this Dave-made gift in my office. Great show, Dave. You are missed.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, C. David Allis. Aside from his groundbreaking contributions to biomedical science, David will be remembered for his warmth, humility, and relentless optimism.

Perhaps the best part of this manuscript is that it stems from a discovery made by curious undergraduate students. Enough can't be said about the value of that curiosity and the mentorship of people like @DavidAngeles13 and @Planaria1. Such an awesome story!.

Not only is this my first preprint, but thanks to the artistic eye of my co-first author @S_Nowotarski, it is definitely the most beautiful paper on which I will ever be an author.

6/6 I don't have a link for that last one. But I can tell you it made a huge impact on me (even if I became a different kind of doctor in the end👩🔬). Her example matters; her life matters. #BLACK_LIVES_MATTER.

5/6 When I was in 3rd/4th grade, my best friend was a black girl named Darnell. Her color wasn't that notable, as our school was pretty diverse. What was notable was that her mom was a doctor. I was so impressed. I didn't know any other moms (or women) who were doctors.
