Daniel Kahl's presentation at the MDB River Reflections conference last week was very powerful, especially his closing comments; https://t.co/w3fIFC28aU from 1:36. Anyone who cares about community in the basin should watch. @CottonAustralia @CottonResearch @northerninland

@SwimSallySwim @p_hannam @RonniSalt @justinrfield @helendalton22 Disallowance means the govt have no way to manage take from floodplains, no metering or govt checks The regulations require metering, limits on take and accountability. Less water being taken means more for floodplains Which Labor, Greens, SFF, an ind seem to be against

Overland flow is defined in NSW law & impounding it occurs state-wide even if some don't call it that. We identify as historically taking it, we know the importance of 2008 'line in the sand' for works. The disallowance removed that line. We wait for licences, what do others do?

Licensing floodplain harvesting is a NSW statewide issue. The first tranche of measuring & reducing volumes of floodwater extracted will be in NthNSW in July 2021 SthNSW to follow in 2023. FPH structures built post 2008 will have to be licensed or removed https://t.co/8El5owYvHg

We were clear during the @nsw_upperhouse inquiry into FPH that there is a statewide issue that needed to be fixed by government - @helendalton22 @PHuntAgri overland flow is well defined s.4A water management act, might be worth a look

Looks like there is floodplain harvesting in the south & caught up in it is @helendalton22 no less. FPH is defined by “the impoundment of water flowing overland”. Maybe we need to bring that FPH reg back so we can all get licensed & metered.

NSWIC Media Release: Irrigated agriculture wants a modern legislative framework. We don’t understand politicians who want water management turned back to 1912. It’s almost like they don’t want the problem solved. #FactsMatter #PolicyNotPolitics

@nsw_upperhouse FPH report released https://t.co/4JnmZwpkhJ, 1 key message - regulation and licencing must progress! We agree. #factsmatter in any debate claims of 900GL (now 1600GL) taken during Feb are wrong - with 1200GL storages not all full, where’s the water @justinrfield?

@thelandnews This means that the Basin Plan goes from a 2750GL plan to a 4750GL plan & it’s our communities that will suffer. Contact @melindapaveyMP & let her know that you support & recognise your valley’s WSP Plan Limit & so should the @MD_Basin_Auth

Great job explaining complex issue of the issue of how the cwlth is taking extra 2000gl of water by stealth from regional Nsw it’s $1.2 billion dollar reduction to farm gate - frankly we have all had enough of the Basin Plan it’s time NSW withdrew unless this issue is resolved

Important for anyone with a storage dam to consider this consultation - as the program is no longer about only those who would traditionally consider themselves taking FPH because the NSW Government’s current position is includes those who collect rainfall runoff from their farm
