Beyond crazy. This is an editor at The Economist, neoliberal mouthpiece of Western billionaires, demonizing Iran for exporting food to neighbors, claiming the sale of vegetables is "corrupt" and an "invasion". The point of this absurd propaganda? To justify illegal US sanctions.
Iran is flooding the Gulf with foodstuffs. Nine out of ten aubergines, tomatoes and watermelons imported by the UAE are of Persian origin. Oman and Qatar are also being targeted. This is the most spectacular invasion you have never heard of

This is a great paper. This section explaining the limits of GDP as a metric is important:. "There are many instances whereby policies that make people’s lives better (not only from an environmental perspective but also from a social perspective) would directly reduce GDP, all.
Economic growth is useless unless it delivers social benefits. GDP does not distinguish between $1 million in weapons and $1 million in healthcare. Even Simon Kuznets — the inventor of GDP — said that we need to be explicit about the actual objectives of economic growth.
