Bend City Council Position 3 | Working for a just, equitable, thriving and affordable Bend for everyone
Bend, OR
Joined June 2020
I read this proclamation in honor of my grandmother Marie DeJardin who passed away from this tragic disease in Woodburn years ago.
Council proclaimed "Walk to End Alzheimer's Day" to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s, a progressive neurodegenerative brain disorder which robs people of memories, leads to progressive mental and physical impairments and to which there is no cure. More: https://t.co/z3Qix1Eo9x

Hope you can listen at 5:30 as staff and the Human Rights and Equity Commission identify strategies and resources that address hate speech in our community. We have been working hard and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together since I requested the work session months ago.

COCC and St. Charles Health System are expanding their programs to encourage more homegrown talent to take up nursing. Sage Miller, who just graduated from COCC with a two year RN, already has a job lined up.

Thank you @RepEmersonLevy and @BendMegan for convening this conversation. Designing and building safer transportation infrastructure is key. I think a discussion of e-bike regulation and education (for young people especially) is also warranted. Looking forward to discussing.
Next Tuesday the City will host a roundtable from 3-5 p.m. at the Larkspur Community Center with a group of invited organizations invested in talking about e-bike safety and enforcement #inBend. Learn more on how to provide your thoughts ahead of time at https://t.co/7ysePTV8s6

Check out this incredible mural that the Scalehouse Gallery has put together with homeless artists. It is in the Bend Parking garage and it’s remarkable!

If there were an E-Bike Educational Event/Panel, who would you like to attend and what would you like addressed? @RepEmersonLevy

When tragedy strikes like it did with the young teenager who was killed on their e-bike, we often want to place blame. I would hope that we have learned from past mistakes with mass shootings and learn from tragedy so it never happens again. Let’s come together and solve this.

Anyone know how much State Representatives make and how much Councilors make?
Commissioner Chang was the lone vote against, saying that he makes “more than enough to raise his kid” on his current $111,000 salary. He will not be accepting the raise @KTVZ

Thank you @bendconcerts for a great first concert of the season for me! This Boston girl loved me some James Taylor and loved seeing Fresco and Fryed and Masa Empanadas in the food truck area!

The danger to your kids isn’t the rainbow crop top at target. It’s the semi automatic rifle with a high capacity magazine legally sold in the parking lot with no background check.

We support our nurses!
Calling nurses “the backbone of our system of care,” the @CityofBend council unanimously voted to honor “the accomplishments and sacrifices of our local nurses” in a proclamation last night. #BendOR #StCharles #nursesweek #supportnurses #solidarity #citycouncil #localadvocacy

If your Congressman or Senator tells you next week that we are helpless in the face of this carnage, and our gun laws are just fine as is, then decide to do one small thing, each week, to help elect his or her opponent. Democracy is designed to fix a problem like this.
