We frequently overlook the #airpollution problems caused by wood burning in rural villages, and the #climate harm too. To plug this gap, a team of scientists moved into a Slovenian village for winter. Here's what they found. My latest for @guardian

We’re delighted to support this important work by @_wearepossible! London’s food delivery drivers cover hundreds of kilometres every year. There’s a huge opportunity to shift to low pollution vehicles...🧵👇
Did you know that 60% of couriers and delivery riders feel unsafe on the roads while working? That’s why IWGB & Possible are calling for protected bike routes, fair pay, and support to switch to e-bikes. It’s time to put both people and planet first. 🌍 https://t.co/LlMPHKrtkm

The EU has just published major new air quality standards aligned with @WHO guidelines. Amazing to see this ambition and it means low / zero-emission transport will be more necessary than ever in polluted European cities. Big Q, will the UK align? 👀 ➡️ https://t.co/3A8Tv4zKQg

The rollout of universal primary FSM in London gave a unique chance to understand the impact of extended provision, and the experiences of children, families, and schools. Delighted our independent report has found positive impacts on health, finances, and school communities.
NEW: This @ImpUrbanHealth report demonstrates the transformational impact of free school meals: ➡️ Improving children’s health & wellbeing ➡️ Supporting families, especially those struggling with the cost of living ➡️ Helping to improve concentration https://t.co/nvViSeJYtM

Indeed, latest air quality data (2023) subtly published by boroughs & @MayorofLondon include: Marylebone Rd - illegal Upper Richmond Rd - illegal High St Acton - illegal Archway Rd - illegal Streatham High Rd - illegal Tower Bridge Rd - illegal Battersea Park Rd - illegal
https://t.co/NGLTgeoGLY It would be "disastrous" if the focus switched to clean water when the air is still polluted, campaigners say

With @imperialcollege, we've created a course so people can learn about the health effects of air pollution. You'll learn about why air pollution is a social justice issue, about sources of air pollution, and most equitable ways to improve air quality: https://t.co/LI7EFvZYTt

Zero emission freight can only be achieved in cities by switching diesel to electric vans and also e-cargo bikes, which could replace up to 9% of van kilometres driven in central London by 2025 and up to 17% of van kilometres by 2030. Great to spot @firstmile playing their part!
