In the end, I’m happy with my decision. I left Armarouge in the hands of the one guy that could do it justice, while I followed my gut. Huge congrats to Brandon on his finish of 19th! And maybe I will finally bring Psyspam again to a major tournament in Reg F…

I spent the week leading up to Vegas agonizing over which team to select, while slowly making progress on a Porgyon2-Gholdengo team. Which is correct, sticking with comfort/experience - using the team I spent months working on, or making a last-minute meta call?

One week out from Vegas, and I found myself getting cold feet once again. At the same time, I had an idea for a different team that had the potential to be even stronger than this Armarouge one. But I only had a few days left to test and refine it.

However, as the team became increasingly more optimized, it started to include pokemon that, while strong into the current meta, didn’t feel good to play for me. It also broke teambuilding principles that I normally try to adhere to (5 special attackers and 1 physical).

the team had untenable weaknesses (ninetails+gholdengo balance) that I couldn’t solve in time for Milwaukee. So I pivoted to something else. Following Milwaukee, I decided to give Armarouge another crack for Vegas. With renewed focus, I was able to solve most of the team’s issues

I top cut the Las Vegas Regionals, with a final placement of 13th, using a different team than the one I spent months on with Brandon. I began working on Armarouge Psyspam in September. Brandon tested an early build at Monterrey Regionals, netting himself a top 8 result, but

Finished top 8 at the Monterrey Regionals. Quite happy with how I played this weekend and shows that psyspam can prevail (until your run into a garganacl). Shoutout to @BehzadVgc for the team, it was so much fun to play. Now time to take a break from events until Las Vegas.

9th place at NAIC! Proud of the run. Was cool to be on the bigger stage this time.

I also went undefeated in games in Day 2! This was something I could never have imagined doing.

I won the 2025 Vancouver Regional Championships. I started working on this team after San Antonio and put in so much work to make it the best that it could be. To see that work pay off is incredibly gratifying. I’d be happy if you gave my Lunala a try!
