In September 2021 Barnsley received a WSOA for their Local Area Inspection. It’s now 2026. Barnsley borough is a poor area and very deprived. We have been abandoned by Ofsted, CQC and the DfE. They even let the LA run parent voice.

@BarnsleySEND @SpcialNdsJungle @CaptainK77 @educationgovuk Are they trying to fix falling down schools for nowt by robbing the HNB and pretending it is for SEND? I mean, why not, LAs have been getting away with that exact strategy for years.

I want your voices to be heard on what needs to change in the SEND system! The Government have launched the new “National Conversation on SEND”. This is the biggest of its kind in a generation.

Not only do Barnsley MBC run parent voice through organisations they fund and their 5 person participation department but now a report to Audit and Governance outlining parent voice updates is not made public to …. parents. Also, DfE endorse it

Barnsley with its 8 person labour cabinet appears to be a great place for the government to role out its plans. Absolutely zero cultural change in Barnsley education system but EWOs now being specifically employed to target getting kids off EHE.

It’s over 4 years since Barnsley failed its SEND LAI and no one gives one single fuck about our families. The recordings of Contact, NNPCF chair and Rotherham PCF will be released soon and then the really dodgy stuff from BMBC directors is next. SEND community my arse!

This government is getting to the point where it can be considered guilty of hate crime.
It will bewilder & disappoint Labour MPs & members the Chancellor is attacking disabled people again. Nothing seems to have been learnt from the debacle over the disability cuts fiasco. Motability was a great Labour achievement by PM Jim Callaghan in 1978.

How can we realistically bring in new reforms when a council and Contact collaborate to create false complaints to remove a parent and carer forum? Contact took upwards of 10 safegaurding allegations against me and never the PCF. All whilst a BMBC manager was seconded!

Can’t quite pinpoint the time when a sentence [by a service to me and/or my children] started with “Exciting news…” and it actually meant is they are about to make your life more miserable.

Contact says it’s all just ‘hearsay’. On going police investigation relating to individuals that are involved Any fear that we might have is so much less than the fear of our children’s futures.

Barnsley MPs are saying that parents are asking for reforms to the SEND system. I’ve not met or seen or talked to any one parent that’s says they want reforms. All parents in Barnsley ever say is that they want accountability and transparency.

Our Council Leader, CEO and Executive Leadership just don’t comment on the decade long failure they are presiding over. They literally only comment when it relates to town centre that our families had no part in planning!

For all the endless talk of leadership in education (by the pound shop managers on social media), no bugger has the first clue how to engage and empower parents who are the education systems single greatest untapped resource.
@secretHT1 Is that why it is so common for teachers to try to change the narrative to 'everything is the parents fault'? This is damaging because parents are actually the only people that can help, but for that to happen, teachers have to not be so defensive or scared of them.
