Can I recommend moving over from Twitter to Bluesky? It's much less prone to notify you of tweets chosen to annoy you, and doesn't suppress links, etc. It's growing immensely fast, so now is the time to move. Look up starter packs on topics you like, to find the people to follow.

Today looks like being the day Bluesky hits 20m users. Why are you on here instead? It's active, congenial, and thanks to starter packs you can quickly find your communities of interest. https://t.co/S7sRhD1YVN

I know there are bigger worries today, but to do something small and good, please sign this petition to save two excellent #Brutalist towers in #Loughborough. (Great photo by @new_brutalism) https://t.co/fbe3ZKI6Gt

My first three books. For news of the next three, currently in varying states of incompletion, come over to Bluesky, where I'm unsurprisingly Barnabas.Calder. It's charmingly low-troll over there, and lots of good #builtenvironment, #sustainability and #architecture people.

A niche question for #history, #energy and #energyhistory people: does anyone know what the fuel for al-Mahalla al-Kubra cotton mill in #Egypt was at its foundation? #coal? and if so when did it move over to #oil and #renewables? Any help hugely appreciated!

I'm trying out Bluesky Social, on the recommendation of the excellent @MarketUrbanism. If you're on there, or want to explore it as a gaggle of #architectureandenergy people, I'm https://t.co/hepwoky1BF. Hope to see you there.

My illustration is the close wall at Salisbury Cathedral, built of stone from demolished Old Sarum. Photo (and abundant fascinating info) courtesy of John McNeill and his excellent article on the subject:

Truly shocked by the ruinous state of the Bernat Klein studio. One of the flying beams on the front elevation seems to have somehow been decapitated - the severed end lying in undergrowth below. Very sad…

The National Gallery in London is renovating its Sainsbury Wing and they’ve just found a secret letter from one of the original donors, sunk into a concrete column, saying that he hates the columns and is glad they’re being demolished. 10/10 unhinged rich man behaviour, no notes

As a general rule I'm live and let live about moles, but this new variety may be more of a threat.
