The news of Nyiko Nkwinika passing really come as a shock. What a great guy man, one of the nicest I met at UCT. Shared a corridor with him at res, always willing to have a chat. I won't forget how excited he was when I started coaching res football. Rest well Festival my dawg❤️
I fully get you man. I went to get a new bank card, the Capitec consultant made me take out funeral cover and then wrote her number under the documents. I texted later, and she blocked me. But I won't lie, I really appreciated her for that short-lived happiness I got.
Struggled with this for the longest of time with my dad. He's a naturally quiet person, who would leave the house at 5am and come back at 6pm, tired AF. He couldn't even go watch me play sport on weekends because he was resting. But one thing, I knew how much that man loved us.
In 2012, he won the u20 world cup with the Junior Boks as the starting flyhalf. He was in Grade 12. No South African player has achieved that while still in high school. In fact, the only other time the Junior Boks have played a world cup final was when he was captain in 2014.
Another thing about elite sport is that, it is designed so that only the "special" genetic profiles make it. You can spot from a young age which genetic profiles are the chosen ones. A glance at Andile's running style, you realize why his mom had to buy a club for him to play pro
You are one of many things that are wrong in South African football. You always pull these childish, sensationalist stunts. You couldn't even wait for the tournament to end for you to campaign for a new coach.
In the group stages, we knocked out Tunisia (ranked 5 in Africa), quarterfinals we knocked out Morocco (ranked 1 in Africa), in the semi-finals we had Nigeria (ranked 3 in Africa) against the ropes and lost on penalties.
We actually had the best run in the tournament.
Might be mistaken, but James "Sofasonke" Mpanza played a pivotal role in fighting for the land where the stadium is built on, and the actual construction of the stadium. If there is anyone Orlando Stadium should be named after, it should be him.
I understand it's painful having your parents there and not having a relationship with them, but nabo ngabantu man. More especially when they've never done you dirty, except not having time to do activities with you. The same things you go through, your folks also go through them
The crime that is happening in Cape Town townships doesn't just end there, it spills over to Eastern Cape rural areas. La majita angamagintsa pha run to EC rural areas once they get into too much trouble, bafike bamoshe napha. This thing needs to be dealt with decisively.
Produced by the late Moses Taiwa Molelekwa.
That year, Taiwa also produced Magesh's album, Ndabezitha. Which angered a number of Jazz artists in the country because they believed he was too talented for Kwaito. They asked his father, Bra Monk Molelekwa to sit him down.
Teboho Mokoena carried teenager Ethan Brooks in 2021. He welcomed Yaya Sithole and Jayden Adams in the team. Now he is doing the same with Thalente Mbatha. He even carried Goodman Mosele at the Olympics, and you guys want that type of player thrown out because of two games?
Aphelele Fassi has to be the most talented sportsman I've seen.
He played first team Cricket, first team Hockey and first team Rugby at Dale College. I also heard he was a very good Football player at Central Primary.
Themba Zwane defies the idea of space limitation in football. To him, the game is played in a infinite amount of space. He was made for the final third.
Man, the PSL used to have magnetic players. And they were spread out across the league. I remember watching Thanda Royal Zulu in 08/09, seeing Benard Parker and July Mahlangu. Extremely magnetic players, playing for a relegation club.
’08 Teko 🆚 ‘08 Moriri
Who could ever forget the EPIC clash between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns 🤩
📺 Watch this 2007/2008 classic on SS PSL now:
Football in this country is so elitist. Very much like Rugby and Cricket. The difference with Rugby and Cricket, they have functional systems from grassroots to pro level. Their use of schools as "academies" is working wonders for them.
Years later, he was admitted for diabetes, we learnt he suffers from chronic depression. He too was not aware. We prioritized making him feel better. One of the things I picked up was how happy he is when I am around. Every chance I get, I make sure I come back home.
Everything we wanted he would give us, even with his last cent. As I grew older, I started learning about their upbringing, started getting exposed to the financial status of the house, started learning about the family dynamics etc.
Cavin Johnson gave 15 year old Kobamelo Kodisang and 18 year Sibusiso Mabiliso their PSL debuts at Platinum Stars. Both players are at the Olympics. He must be very proud.
We fought this Rulani narrative the whole of last year. Now you guys are starting a Jose narrative?
When will you start respecting our National Team coaches mara?
If Rulani indeed ends up at Wydad, that means in two seasons time we might possibly have 7 South African head coaches competing in both CAF club competitions. That is massive. South African coaching has really come a long way.
18 years ago, a certain 21 year old from Luanshya broke all goalscoring records in just 1 full season. Only stayed at Kaizer Chiefs for 1 and a half seasons but will forever be considered one of the greatest strikers to wear that jersey.
I went to initiation, and then things became better because he would spend the whole day and night with me there. We started talking more, became more expressive. I came back from initiation, and made it my priority to actively work on our relationship.
Where were you in 2021 when Bafana Bafana got 13/18 points in the World Cup qualifiers with 19 year old Ethan Brooks in midfield, and 21 year old Bongokuhle Hlongwane as a left winger?
Massive respect to Tinkler for making this point at the back of two consecutive losses. Takes a lot of courage to stick to what you believe in even in times of adversity.
We may question the lifestyle and nutrition of South African players as a contributing factor in their performance or lack thereof, but I also believe the genotype of our players is not researched enough. A sportsman can also be a victim his/her own genetic advantages.
The same Benni who took over from Dlamini while AmaZulu was lying in the relegation zone, instantly turned their fortunes around and had the longest league-winning streak last season. The same Benni?
I am getting a sense Rulani is assembling a technical team he will travel with to Morocco, to take over Wydad Casablanca. He still gets to be part of the Club World Cup next year.
If I was Orlando Pirates, I'd try get as much from this Thembinkosi Lorch deal as possible. Negotiate a swap deal for Junior Mendieta/Gaston Sirino and Gift Motupa. That would go a long long way in fixing their problems upfront.
It stems from his football education, learnt from Wolfgang Frank (who learnt from Arrigo Sacchi). In his book, it is mentioned that when he started coaching, he would spent entire the day's session working on distances out of possession. That was almost unheard of in Bundesliga 2
Klopp compact deep blocks are actually impossible to penetrate. The way he shut down Man City in the 2017/18 UCL 2nd leg, home vs Man City last season and vs Spurs yday are the rare occasions you see it. He wants to entertain but he’s actually great at coaching a reactive shape.
Rulani Mokwena taking Alan Freese to Morocco is such a beautiful gesture of gratitude. Freese was one of Rulani's mentors at Platinum Stars in his early 20s.
This is similar to when your success takes your parents to corridors they never thought they would walk in ❤️
I won't lie I never saw this one coming. To have been able to convince Fernando Da Cruz to be Assistant Coach must have been one helluva. You can't just go from Technical Director, to league wining Head Coach and then to Assistant Coach at age 51, if the project is not convincing
🟡Incoming Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz worked with top talent at Lille as a Scout/ Under 19 Manager between 2008-9 and 2009-12
Eden Hazard aged 17
Pierre Emmerick Aubameyang - 20
Idrissa Gueye - 20
Dimitri Payet - 24
Nicholas Pepe - 22
Gabriel Magalhaes - 20
I can't begin to explain how happy I am that Bafana Bafana will be playing AFCON. In a weeks time, we will be watching our players rubbing shoulders with some of the best this continent has to offer. That's a great feeling man ❤️
Lmao anyone who wants to take EC away from the ANC needs to work the ground, over the whole cycle of 5 years. Parties go quiet that side and expect people to vote for them, when all they know is one party.

Kaizer Chiefs are understood to have transfer-listed defender Njabulo Ngcobo, who still has one more year left on his contract. Story by

That is very bold from Hugo Broos. Both those Centre Backs should be starting at Kaizer Chiefs, including Bvuma at goals. Baxter has no choice but to play these players in the next 2 games. Mabiliso too will have to get game-time.
I want y'all to come out clean and say you want your fave club players in the squad, that's why you can't watch Bafana Bafana with a clean heart just so you can say "I told you so". All these excuses you are telling us is just cowardice to hide your partisanship.
Monnapule Saleng showing the technical and tactical maturity that made Thembinkosi Lorch irreplaceable after 18/19. Might not give you as much G/A, but will give you a certain ceiling raising effect you won't get from other players.

can reveal goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari (24) has joined Kaizer Chiefs from TS Galaxy.
Ntwari has applied for his Visa and once received, he'll travel to Turkey to join Chiefs' pre-season camp.

We constantly talk about the importance of having a supportive family structure, but when people support their families back it's called black tax?
Y'all aren't real people man 😂😂
His ability to use the defender's momentum to his advantage, is a top quality to have in the interiors. A great space manipulation tool. Aided by his extremely tight turning radius. Hence I rate Jose Riviero as a top coach. Didn't just stick him where he was previously played.
If you see Rele Mofokeng at a night club take out a belt and beat him up. It's your country duty. We cannot lose another talent to alcohol and baddies.
Once you contextualize his season, you actually realize he overachieved. AS FAR Rabat released 20 players from last season's league winning team. He had to sign 17 new players. On top of that, he broke the club's points record, despite losing the league by 1 point.
Nasreddine Nabi's stint at ASFAR comes to an end:
🥈 Botola Pro runners-up
⛔️ CAFCL second round
🥈 Throne Cup final
👤 38 games
✅ 27 wins
⚖️ 5 draws
❌ 6 defeats
⚽️ 89 goals scored
🥅 38 goals conceded

You guys should have corrected Saed Ramovic here. Puso Dithejane only spent two years at Kaizer Chiefs. He came with Vela Khumalo from School Of Excellence in 2021.

Saed Ramovic tells me Kaizer Chiefs did a GREAT job in developing Puso Dithejani, adding the Academy Coaches at Chiefs have produced a top player.

Ted Dumitru is the father of modern football in SA. University of Porto lecturer, Vitor Frade, came up with Tactical Periodization. A training methodology Jose Mourinho used to revolutionize the PL in 2004. Ted Dumitru was already doing something similar with Maximal Training.
Mlungisi is the best thing that has happened in SA football since the inception of the PSL,He is the founding father of modern football in SA,3 of him and whole league will be transformed
Kaizer Chiefs has no choice but to free up two more foreign spots by releasing Edson Castillo and Christian Saile. Three top talents from the continent will go a long long way.
Don't forget Gavin Hunt.
The first ever coach to win a 3 peat in the PSL, 5 PSL Young Player of the Season winners, 3 PSL Footballer/Player of the Season winners, 5 times PSL Coach of the Season, 4 times league winner, 8 trophies in total, CAFCL semi-final.
Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs have agreed to terms over the transfer of both Ashley Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika for an undisclosed fee. Both players are set to join Chiefs at Naturena as of the 1st of July.

Stuart Baxter sounds like he's in disbelief of how much quality this Chiefs team lacks. He should have known the minute he saw Katsande and Parker still pushing 30+ appearances a season, 6 years after he left them at the club. That should have been an immediate red flag.
I hope Liverpool fans see the value Gini Wijnaldum added in this team. Especially those who used to question his lack of assists. Gini was very key in us dominating territory. His ability to win the ball back in high zones, and track runners in defensive transitions was very key.
Morgan Mammila's arrogance is one of the most hilarious things I've seen in SA football. Especially for someone who started coaching topflight less than 2 years ago, and whose biggest achievement is winning 4 games with Chippa United.
He's up there with Arthur Zwane's audacity.
Pep's most underrated trait is his acknowledgement of football's cyclical nature and ability to go back in history. In fact, I believe this is a very underrated trait in what makes a top coach. What John Stones is doing, Franz Beckenbauer was doing more than 4 decades ago.
I am reminded seeing pictures of the late Zodwa Khoza in January 2006. She stood soaking wet in a rainy Egypt, watching Bafana Bafana practice sessions a month before she passed away. I sometimes wonder how big a deal she would be if she was still alive.
Mna there is no one who will guilt-trip me for welcoming a foreign technical team at Kaizer Chiefs. I know what local coaches were doing the past two years, which is why things ended up messy. I even know how incoming technical team came about.

We really went toe to toe against the number 1 ranked team in Africa, in an AFCON knockout game.
No sitting back, just putting foot on ball and getting stuck in duels.
We can't be calling for dual-roles in this day and age when we should be calling for SAFA to appoint all coaching staff on a permanent basis. Turning a National Team job into a part-time gig is just a sign of a non-football country.
𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗡✍️
If Bafana Bafana don't beat Liberia on Tuesday, Hugo Broos has to go and Rulani Mokwena should be appointed in a double-role, writes
