I feel for Brian Daboll. I think he does a bunch of good things as coach, but he and his team seem snakebitten. Not sure what the future holds for him, but I do hope he gets a chance to coach again in a different market.

The same can be said for James Franklin. Winner, good person, sure seemed to look out for students, but lose 3 games in a row or don't get it done in "the big one" even after you had your team as one of the final four teams left in the previous season.

It's really sad when the "win at all costs" attitude continues to infiltrate our sports culture at so many levels. I love to win as much as anyone, but we have forgotten so much of everything else coaches do. Brian Kelly was 34-14 at LSU and 5-3 this year and gets fired.

I was never a Tiger fan, but I certainly enjoyed watching what he could do with the golf ball throughout his career. He had plenty of soap opera issues off the golf course too. Patterson's biography puts it all together in his very readable fashion. Book #34
