I'm bracing myself for the worst with LaVine. Teams see what happened with Dame and Beal buyouts and might be content to grab him later. LaVine has a player option next season, the final year of his contract. I find it hard to believe he'd opt out of $49M.

@CarmichaelDave Dave, can you please list the top 3-5 reasons/mistakes that, in your opinion, have turned the Kings from a potential contender a few years ago into one of the worst teams in the conference, if not the entire NBA? Thank you.

To be clear it’s a 2 year with a very minimal guarantee in year 3
Dennis Schröder’s stats this season: 11.5 points 6.2 assists 46.7 TS% The Kings decided to sign Schröder to a three-year, $45 million contract as their top offseason move.

Not exactly a defensive masterpiece thus far. Atlanta with 66 first half points on 55/45 splits. Kings with 46 points on 39/26 splits. Trending towards a blowout loss, a 1-4 homestand, and a 5 game roadie against teams who are a combined 39-19.

We have never, not once, had a full and complete rebuild. THAT is the delusion. If you’re happy with spinning our wheels and being satisfied with play in and first round exits, by all means. OKC, SA, DET, and even Portland have all provided a blueprint. The definition of
12+ years of lottery picks is a step further over a rebuild I would argue. The @CarmichaelDave delusion that tanking will set this team up for the future especially with the owners reputation is concerning.
