“The artificial turf industry has [convinced] millions… its short-lived, nonrecyclable, fossil-fuel-derived product is… good for the environment. Were there a greenwashing hall of fame, this would be in it.” -Charles Miller, a Climate Reality Project chair #BanPlasticTurf

“It is frightening to consider adding a new, preventable source of PFAS directly over our drinking water. Doing so would strip residents of their right to control their exposure to a known carcinogen. That is not only unfair - it is irreversible.” https://t.co/vzXVwEKR4o

@BanPlasticTurf Owners should be prosecuted for allowing this to happen. This is supposedly swept regularly! If so, it returns within days, what happens to the rubber crumbs? Why is it always obvious on the field itself, why no warnings to wash after playing or boards to stop crumb migrating?

Get PAID to remove your fake grass. Yes, in the Town of Windsor, California, you can get a rebate to get rid of your artificial turf. Why? - “known harmful impacts to the environment” - “does not align with the Town’s goals of promoting healthy, water-wise, living landscapes”
Install plastic grass to save water? No. This California town explains why you should #SayNOtoPlasticGrass. Save water AND minimize your environmental impact by holistically-managing living landscapes. Limit grass to only where needed & #KeepItReal. https://t.co/liEuykDpGW

“Boston & Westport, Connecticut, have effectively banned turf that contains rubber from recycled tires due to concerns about exposure to chemicals. Vermont has passed restrictions, & in California, a reversal of a previous decision now allows local communities to impose bans.”

The shortsighted plastic turf trend is on its way out. Buh-bye to plastic fields. Hello to modern cultivars of real grass. This Bermuda grass: - Quickly recovers from damage. - Has lower water needs. - Has lower maintenance needs. - Is drought-resistent. #DoneWithPlasticGrass
