Yesterday, New York's plastic bag ban took effect. Residents must use reusable bags or pay a 5¢ paper bag fee. New York joins California, Hawaii and Oregon who already have bans in effect. Additional bans in Maine and Vermont take effect in April and July.

Joe Biden's campaign page leads this week with 9.0% of the pageviews for all Democratic candidates during the week. Andrew Yang had 8.8% of pageviews for the week, followed by Elizabeth Warren with 6.1%.

The Democratic Party will hold a presidential primary debate next month. The debate is limited to 20 candidates with 10 candidates participating each night. At least 19 candidates have qualified. We're tracking each candidate's debate status here:

An amendment that will change the vote threshold requirement to pass ballot measures in Arizona will appear on the ballot this Nov. On June 23, the AZ State Senate voted 16-12 to put the measure on the ballot. All Reps voted to pass the amendment. All Dems voted against it.
Preliminary Oregon Measure 101 results:
"Yes" votes: 65.5%
"No" votes: 35.5%
A yes vote supported the state's plan for raising revenue to fund Medicaid expansion in the state; a no vote opposed the plan.

Rhode Island residents voted to remove "Providence Plantations" from the official state name in a vote of 53%-47%. The official name of the state at the time of the election was the "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations."

Democrats regained a majority in the Michigan House of Representatives in two special elections on April 16, 2024. Mai Xiong (D) won 58.9% of the vote to Ronald Singer's (R) 41.1% in District 13 & Peter Herzberg (D) won 59.6% of the vote to Josh Powell's (R) 38.3% in District 25.
Voters reject Missouri Proposition A, thus repealing the right-to-work law that the Missouri State Legislature passed and former Gov. Eric Greitens (R) signed in April 2017.
9 of California’s 53 U.S. House seats will have no Republican candidate in the state’s top-two primary. All 9 seats are now held by Democrats, & all the incumbents are running for re-election. 57 total U.S. House races don't have a GOP candidate so far:

Tony Evers (D) defeated incumbent Scott Walker (R) and four other candidates in Wisconsin's gubernatorial election. Evers' victory breaks a Republican trifecta that was formed as a result of the 2010 elections.
