Happy #WorldHospiceAndPalliativeCareDay. What if we in High Income Countries reclaimed dying? Even more important, what if #PalliativeCare was available to more than 4% of people in low & middle income countries? #Justice #UniversalHealthcare #WHPCDay25

The assisted suicide question is important and it comes down to this: do we want our society to be the kind of society that helps people to flourish throughout their whole lives, or the kind that helps people to die because they aren’t flourishing?

As ironic as it is disturbing. If the speaker can't get in the room, it's hardly surprising that people's voices are just not being heard on matters of life and death.

This morning we hosted our first-ever fringe event at a political conference. The #MND community has told us how vital timely access to genetic testing is - and that’s exactly what we were discussing. Huge thanks to our brilliant panellists: Tanya Curry, Marc Barlow,

Sorry to hear of the death of Canada's 'father of palliative care,' Dr Balfour Mount. He was cared for on the MontrƩal unit that bears his name. Condolences to family, friends & colleagues at @CareMcgill This interview from 2018 really sums him up.

"We do," I said cheerfully. "It's the kind of place where people are always moving in and out. Makes it rich, interesting. People from all over." Pause for thought, then because the irony of his position seemed lost on him "We even let some English in."

Friendly chap walking his dog, retiree from England enjoying the pace of life in mid Wales. "You get many immigrants in [the Welsh city where I live]?" he asked, with sympathy. How to answer without too much hostility?

I wonder whose interests are served by this long term editorial push. Not their readers imho she certainly not their readers' patients.

Today’s Times: a woman who died by assisted suicide may have been coerced, says a friend. ā€œHe was the dominant personality and emotionally controlling...[he] had influenced her over the years. She would have said ā€˜it was all my decision’, but really he was making it for her.ā€

Incidentally, Kim’s Bill neither requires family to be notified at any point, nor that the body should be released to family. Would it just be up to the clinic what they do with remains? How far does that extend?
