Curious to know what unexpected thing happened at #mtbnats to bring such a time crunch to today’s schedule that @usacycling cut the amateur races from 100 minutes down to a projected 65-70 minutes. FWIW, 100 min today would have been a death march but 80-90 is solid.

My pro bike racing nostalgia and fomo is at its peak with this weekend’s Armed Forces Classic. The nostalgia starts with Speed Week and comes to a crescendo now. This was my favorite weekend of the whole year, from a Friday spin through D.C. to great races, hotel, and dining.

This is why I believe that the goal Of athlete “development” really should be shifted to athlete retention. When we keep them in sport, they have a chance to keep learning. keep athletes competing, the better their chances are to go all in and get better. It’s up to them really.

Is it just me or is this gravel beef stemming from an underlying reluctance from top riders to admit that they are professional athletes competing in pro bike races? The level is high, competition is deep, and winning is tough. Maybe it's time to bust out some new tactics.

Well that triggered a lot of hate. But it was nothing compared to what trans folks have to live with every day for just trying to live their lives. My heart goes out to them. I can’t fathom having to live with that vitriol every day.

The rights of members of marginalized groups should never be up for popular vote. Everyone from @usacycling connected to the survey asking the majority group if a minority group should be allowed to play needs to resign immediately.
