The most important thing I learned at Devconnect was how buggy our app was. Unacceptably so. And so our team has been working their asses off to fix all of them. They’ve done like 350 commits in the last week. 22+ big fixes and other small things we had in the pipeline.

Crypto is alive and it lives through Ethereum. Everything this guy mentioned being absent in Abu Dhabi was present at DevConnect. You want to meet people who stand for the ethos? Go to the Cypherpunk Congress event at any Devcon. You’ll find them there.
Crypto is dead. That’s my takeaway from Abu Dhabi. Everywhere I look there are people in suits talking about how to bring institutional money or how to impress banks. Haven’t seen any tie-die tshirts with unicorns. No one is talking about CT or infofi or degenerate ICOs.

The government is horrible at building. I used to consult for them. Hundreds of thousands to build a “knowledge management” system that was scrapped. Govt mostly spends bc if they don’t their budget gets taken away for the next year. They’re incentivized to not be cost
The US spent $30M to build a direct file taxes website. That no one even used. So it’s shutting down. The thing is, for a lot of things, the private sector just does a better job. We build stuff for less money. And the quality is better. Vs what government can build.

Makes sense because often people don’t trust to put large sums of money into a social app. But they do trust “wallets” more. Increasing TVL increases all metrics downstream.
unironically I've never been more bullish on farcaster, with the team side-stepping the social side, there is now real opportunity to build social products on the protocol and for the first time have no fear of contradictory protocol updates or cannibalization from the "main app"

I think I understand now. Jesse and Solana have very different mentalities here. Jesse is doing this for the builders and the creators. Creators, let's take memecoins for example, want as much distribution and liquidity as possible for their coins. Even if it's cross-chain.
