🎼 BGHS and BGJHS Orchestra students meet virtually with composer Soon Hee Newbold- one of the most performed orchestra composers in the world. Her compositions are played by groups from professional symphonies to elementary ensembles- including students in BGISD!

JAG (Jobs for America) is new this year at BGJHS and this week, students hosted an Initiation and Installation Ceremony to celebrate involvement in JAG and the Career Association. JAG helps students develop career readiness and life skills to succeed after graduation.

BGHS Culinary Arts students are preparing charcuterie box orders for staff. Each box includes salami, pepperoni, cheese, almonds, grapes, crackers, pretzels, and a chocolate chip cookie. These orders help students gain experience in food safety, preparation, and service.

Success begins with showing up, and our students are SHOWING UP! We ended the first month of the school year with a student attendance rate of 96.77%, and 4,783 enrolled. Keep up the great work!! Go PURPLES!

How does a fallen tree turn into a nurse log? Students at Dishman-McGinnis explore live organisms right in the classroom, noticing, wondering, and modeling how fallen trees help new life grow. @OpenSciEd

Exploring aerodynamics ✈️ Third graders are designing, building, and testing paper airplanes in the McNeill STEAM lab.

All five BGISD elementary schools offer healthy snacks for students through the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Funded by the USDA, the district buys local produce from partners such as Jackson's Orchard, Need More Acres Farm, Berrylicious Orchard, Silver Mist Farms, and more.

Bowling Green High School co-op students from the Medical Arts and Child Development programs are gaining valuable experience at Little Purples Academy. The high school students have completed all training requirements to be paid employees of the district for 10 hours per week.
