Skubal contract minimums: AAV must be over 43.3 mil (that’s the record by JV from the Mets) Total value must be over 325mil (Yamamoto has the record and he wants to break it) 10 years (gerrit cole has the record of 9 years) So he needs a contract of 10years 435 million.

Alonso will basically be the same age as Semien is now when his 5-year contract is up. We just traded for Semien. So Semien can be productive in his age 35 season but Pete can’t. Got it.

Stearns is the same as Chaim bloom. Chaim had an amazing reputation building and having success with a small market team the Rays. Everyone thought once he got the job with Boston a big market team, he would know how to merge his player development skills with big market

I’m confused, is it that they don’t trust a player at an older age or just in general not wanting to give more than a 3 year contract? Schwarber is 33 and Stearns offered him 3 years for years 34 35 36.. But the talk for Pete would have been no more than 3 years and he’s 31?
