Just a ridiculous sequence from Kyle Bradish:. - soft/tight spin inside ⤵️.- hard heat cut up and in⤵️.- front door heat with armside run 🔥. Good lord, he's so back.

Kyle Bradish back on the mound tonight is such a great thing; potentially the Orioles' most important piece heading into 2026. Bradish finished 4th in AL Cy Young voting in 2023. The potential is elite. He threw 7 no-hit innings last May in Chicago. This was 14 months ago ⬇️⬇️.

Bradish shaking off his elbow after this 97mph heater doesn't look great for a guy coming off a UCL sprain!

The more I watch this and their dynamic for the next few innings, the more I am persuaded there was either a PitchCom issue or Kremer had an issue with the umpire and was talking it out with Basallo.

Dean Kremer looked visibly frustrated with Samuel Basallo coming off the mound to end the 3rd inning 👀🤨

If Samuel Basallo hits a 520 ft. walkoff home run off of Craig Kimbrel in extra innings that hits the warehouse, you build him a statue tomorrow.

Never a bad time to bring up my favorite Matt Bowman fun fact:. Matt Bowman has both been teammates with and pitched against both Jackson and Matt Holliday.

Alex Jackson with one of the most spectacular catcher picks on a pitch in the dirt that I have ever seen. That thing bounced three feet in front of home plate. Wow.

I harp on this with Povich a lot, but his ability to succeed consistently at the MLB level is going to come down to how he can get outs against RHH. The pitch mix only works if he can locate the new & improved changeup low and away. He hasn't shown he can reliably do that so far.

Povich quite simply does not have the tools to compete against right handed hitters. 1.036 OPS against him in 92 plate appearances by RHH this year. All five of his pitches have below average shape and velocity. There's nothing he has to consistently get outs, unfortunately.

Orioles essentially get Basallo at $15/$18 million for each his first three free agency years in return for guaranteeing his arbitration salaries/raises. Plus a nice lil $5 million signing bonus. Basallo's career earnings to date have been roughly $1.9-2 million.

Make no mistake about it, this extension for Basallo is a bet on his offensive profile. Adley Rutschman is simply so, so much better defensively behind the plate than Basallo at the moment.

The bat speed for Basallo is crazy elite. We're talking Judge/Schwarber bat speed🔥. They have a read on his recognition and contact abilities to be confident it's not a Jhonkensy Noel situation. The bat can play at 1B/DH. And if he's even an average defensive C? Cherry on top.
